RX350 - Car not moving
Hi - I have a Lexus RX350, 2010 model with 140,000 km onboard. Last week, I changed my summer tires to winter tires at the tire shop, brought the car back, and parked in my garage. Yesterday, I started the car and shifted the gear into drive position (D) while pressing the brake pedal and disengaging the parking brake. The engine started and the car jerked forward a bit but would not move, even after stepping on the accelerator. The engine was revving and the RPM needle moved while I increased the accelerator pressure. The car indicated it wanted to move forward, but something was holding it back as though the tires were locked. I tried to reverse the car. The same thing happened. None of the warning lights were lit. I have been using this car for six years without a problem. Have any of the fellow owners run into similar issues? Your valuable advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Could be a brake seize issue. How long did the car sit without being moved? Was it sitting outside in the cold and snow? Your e-brake might possibly been seized. Even if you release your e-brake, it does not let the caliper move away from the disk.

It's possible your parking brake shoes stick to the drum, normally you should avoid setting the parking brake if the car will sit for a while.
What I would try is to put it in D (or R, whichever gets you out of the garage), switch on the AWD Lock, and rev the engine harder. I don't know if this method is 'kosher' but it got my neighbor's truck going after he left the parking brake engaged for a month.

With proper care/preparation, put the vehicle in "N" and push it forward and or back. Preparation, means be prepared in case of incline that you can stop the vehicle.
Then it is matter of finding out what is binding ... You can jack up one side at a time and see which wheel is stuck in "N" .. again make sure the wheels on ground are choked.
