Anyone replaced a caliper boot while attached to the fluid line?
Noticed one of the caliper boots on the front right caliper was torn while replacing the rotors and was able to order a replacement but wondering if it's do-able to replace it without unhooking the fluid line as well as leaving the piston in place. I found several videos online on how to do it but all had the caliper removed and most removed the piston but I don't have a compressor capable of pushing it out.

You have to take the piston out to replace the seal .You are then rebuilding the caliper . If you dont have experence doing this
you would be better off buying a caliper already rebuilt .

I have not worked on 3rd gen brakes, but every vehicle I have worked on, the boot around the piston is a slip on/off once the pads are removed. IMHO you are overthinking the problem. Just do a careful visual and you will get the answer. I would suggest that you keep away from the hydraulic portion [piston, hose and seals]. If you introduce air in the system the problem will snowball on you.
