Climate settings reset when car shuts off
2013 RX 350. Typically, the climate settings stayed the same after car was shut off and restarted until manually changed. Now, when the computer comes up after start, the climate settings are off and have to be reset. I just had it in for this and a directional motor directing the air was replaced as was the car battery, but problem stil exists. Anyone else experience this and know what is causing it? Thank you,

Can you tie the start of this problem to any other event? Another recent service, etc? It seems odd that this would start happening without any updates, etc. When you start up the car, now, I presume you have to press 'auto' to get anything started? And once you press 'auto', and the climate system activates, are the settings as they were last time or do they get reset to some default?

You answered your own question. "...just had it in for this and a directional motor directing the air was replaced"
Common with all Lexus, especially LS460 seem to have the most issues with them. Another common issue that causes this is the cabin air filter installed wrong or the blend door forced open.
The reason the climate resets to default is because there is an "error" or issue with one of the servos. This servo was not installed correctly, not aligned correctly when installed, not able to move in its correct range of motion on start up, or not initialilzed in techstream after installation. When the car starts up, it goes through it's start up check sequence with all the servo motors and one of them is not right. The climate defaulting every time is a trigger telling you. This will also happen if any of the duct arms are binding up or not allowing the servos to move in their smooth motion.
If you have techstream and go to air conditioner you will see an error code for whichever servo is causing the hvac to default. There might be a way to hold down two buttons on the hvac, like the LS, in order for it to flash error codes.
Even worse, sometimes techstream doesn't pick up ANY servo error codes, yet a bad or wrong servo will cause the HVAC start up delay and default.
