Unhappy CPO warranty question

Hi. First post. I took my RX to the dealership because I noticed an oil leak. It is a 2015 RX with <45,000 miles. They say that I have a blown head gasket! $7,000 to repair! My warranty expired 14 days ago 😩. They told me to call Lexus to see if there is any leeway on the warranty. Does anyone have any experience with dealing with Lexus and an issue such as this?
thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You should indeed call Lexus Corporate (800-255-3987) and open a case with them. I would expect that you will get some level of goodwill allowance. They may even decide to cover the entire cost of your repair.

Oil leak due to blown head gasket!! Or is valve cover gasket that has a leak?

They said head gasket. I have no way of knowing, and I certainly do not think a valve cover gasket replacement would be $7,000. I have a hard time believing that a head gasket costs that much...

If Lexus Corporate refuses to fully cover this repair with a goodwill offer, I would be seeking a second opinion at a well-respected Toyota-familiar independent shop. I agree that your dealership quote is extremely bloated.

If coolant and oil are mixing up then it is head gasket while an observable oil leak on the side of the engine would be valve cover gasket.

Reason I asked was the head gasket developing a leak is typically due to engine overheating, resulting in warped head. That is catastrophic failure.

A head gasket issue is an ongoing deal and would have presented symptoms from a while back, that's something they should have been caught in previous visits' inspections. Sounds to me like they knew your warranty was about to run out and played dumb about it, overlooked and now they're trying to stick you with the bill. Definitely talk to Lexus Corporate about that cause something isn't on the up and up here. They tried to do the same at Honda with my cousins Accord, tried to charge him over $3000 for a rear main seal and his powertrain warranty had literally just ran out a few days prior. During the inspection video you could tell the seep had been there for a while, so why didn't they bother to mention it before? Oh yeah cause warranty rate doesn't pay as well as customer rate to both the dealer/tech and also most managers will go to any means to not honor warranty items and keep their warranty claim numbers down cause they also get bonuses based on that and also customer pay upsells. I went back and ripped them a new one for trying to rip off my cousin, spoke with the manager and also the regional manager and they deemed it a "valve cover" was the leak and not the actual rear main seal... oh so now we went from a rear main to a valve cover leak? So which one is it? Those dudes were stumbling all over each other and got caught in the lie right in front of the regional manager too. I made sure Honda covered both items under goodwill and also made sure to rip that dealer a new one on their survey, that's just plain low and dishonest which is why I stopped working in that crap industry.
