Default Turn signal indicator in the glass of the side mirror

My mother has a 2013 RX350 and she claims that a flashing indicator is no longer showing in the glass of the side view mirrors. This isn't the flasher on the outside or front of the mirror housing, it is in the glass that you view what is beside or behind you. I know there's an indicator for BSM / Blind Side Monitoring, but I wasn't aware of a turn indicator for the driver to see in the glass. Does this exist? She said it did and stopped working a few day ago. Is there a setting to restore the turn indicator?

No such thing on any year RX. there’s the blinker on the front of the mirror and it reflects throughout the light strip so you catch a glimpse of the reflection off of the side from inside the car. There is no indicator inside or behind the actual glass. Put on the hazards and take a look to see if both are blinking from the front, if so it’s all working as intended.

II would suggest make sure the BSM is ON in your mother's RX. It can be that she thinks the BSM also acts as a turn signal indicator [BSM does come on and turns off and is amber in color].

There are a variety of kits for adding turn signals to the back side of exterior mirror glass so that they show through, e.g. like the one in the attached image. Maybe her RX has one of these kits installed and it's gone defective.

I would bet this is what has happened. When there are two lanes turning and there is a car beside you in the lane that is in the direction of your turn, the blind spot monitor will flash rapidly so it might appear as a turn signal indicator in the mirror. I had my RX serviced once and for some reason they had turned the BSM off. I don't know why the would have done that, but it took me a week or so to even realize it had been turned off. The last loaner I had also had it turned off, so it happens. As I recall from my 2013, I believe it is just a switch on the dash to the left of the steering column? It will show on the dash as "BSM" when activated. Is that yellow BSM light showing on the dash, which would confirm that it is enabled?
