I have a 2012 rx 400h. the liftgate opens with the dash buttom and the key fob but wont open when i pres the back button by the license plate. is the button bad or do I need to reset something thanks Jim

Checked the switch at the glovebox? Can’t remember if that glovebox switch disables the motor completely or just for using the external button. Does the external button at least unlock the rear hatch but you can still lift it manually? Has it ever opened with the motor using the exterior button? That is a customizable option using techstream. Did you unplug the battery recently? Might have reset if it functioned before.

Where you ever able to figure out the issue? I'm having the same problem, and I checked the button in the glove, tried both on and off but no luck.

Thats how they intended it to work. If you manually press the button underneath the grab handle I t doesn’t activate the opener motor. I also thought mine was screwed up since every car I’ve ever had would trigger the motor. It is faster this way once you get used to it.

I’m getting contradicting stories. Some say the settings were erased and I’ll need to take it in to get it programmed using Techstream. I’ve also seen videos of people pressing the handle button and it opens automatically. I’m bringing it to the dealership next week for maintenance hopefully they can answer the question.

I could be wrong but I thought I read somewhere that that was an option on the updated 13 and up ones.
