Purchased aftermarket set of roof cross bars from Amazon (open box) for $45. Watched several YouTube videos for install tips. When it came time to fit bars, discovered they were too short to bridge gap. Instead of moving and tapping new bolt holes underneath bar end cap, I unscrewed, but didn't remove the 2 large bolts securing the mounting plate, which gave me some play. Did this on both rear mounting plates. Plus I removed the washers underneath each end cap securing bolt and extended bar to its fullest length. Voila, they fit now! Retightned plate bolts and end cap screws before snapping on cowlings.
