SOS light was always green, now red

Supposedly that backup battery is both expensive and difficult to access. Most folks who have this issue indicate that they will not go to the trouble and expense of fixing it because the service will be discontinued soon.

It is called a MAYDAY module. This is supposed to notify of a roll over crash. It does work over 3G. It is located under the console in the chassis. In order to replace it the entire console has to be removed. I found out from the dealer a couple of weeks ago. Not worth replacing because 3G is being cut off. ATT is starting the cut off this month. I plan to put some silver paint over my red light. I was told that it would not turn off.

I have a 2014 RX350 that suffered the same SOS battery failure. I was told that a replacement would cost north of $800. I was also told that the red light would not go out. When the 3G service ended and Lexus Enform service ended the light went out. I had planned to paint over it with gray paint but now I don’t need to do it. The SOS feature is there to be an alert in case of a roll over crash. The battery is in the chassis under the center console and if difficult to reach. Don’t bother!!!
