Default Oil Gush out?

My 2010 suddenly got oil gush out when starting the car. Anyone got this issue and how much you spent to fix it?

Thanks

Do a search for 2GR-FE oil line failure pretty sure the 2010 RX was affected. Short version is an oil line made of rubber degrades and fails a revised all metal part was made to replace it. Don't know what a shop would charge to replace maybe 2-3 hours plus the part. You are lucky it happened on initial start instead of when you were driving. Do not try to start the engine again!

There are a bunch of threads on this forum about the issue for example

Thanks. Saw the online when google search. Can we home fix or get a home mechanic or have to tow it to the dealer?

A good mobile mechanic should be able to do this in your driveway, it's far easier on a lift. There are some specific tools you need see this video.

If at all possible take it to a good independent mechanic dealers charge top dollar and often the service is not exactly the best. Of course confirm the oil line did burst, it's very likely but very likely is not a diagnosis.

Call the Lexus dealer or Lexus corporate first and find out if it is still covered under their extended warranty for the towing package oil cooler rubber oil line failure. I don't recall the length of coverage, but they can look it up with your VIN. If covered they will tow it to the dealer and fix it for free.

Contact Lexus corporate and ask for reimbursement for the repair.

Expect a more favorable response if you call them rather than e-mail them.

Got the respond, yes my car is more than 10 years
"We regret to learn of your repair concern. We were able to further look into your concern and have verified your vehicle is beyond the parameters of the Warranty Enhancement Program for this concern. This warranty enhancement program was an extension of the vehicle's Basic Warranty. Primary coverage for this program expired on 01/31/16 and Secondary coverage for your vehicle expired 10 years after the date of first use: 11/09/2009. Once the vehicle is outside of the program parameters, the cost of repairs becomes the owner’s responsibility, as the component is now outside of all factory coverage."

It's time to switch to GX. I did the deposit for the GX but had family issue so i had to withdrew last year. Maybe next year will completely switch.

Next year there should be a redesigned RX and expect an interior similar to the new NX.

Looking for a 7 seater, The RX350L 7 seats is very small in the back seat. Any other good options?

For a 7-person comfortable seating arrangement you may need to consider going full-size. Lots of owners swear by their Tahoes, Suburbans, and Escalades. Just be prepared to suffer the financial consequences regarding how much gas they guzzle. Good resale values down the road if you take care of them due to their tremendous popularity with the soccer moms hauling around 3 or 4 kids all day.

Kia Carnival, because it doesn't look that much like a minivan....
If you want a big SUV then the US News rankings are a good place to start. They summarize all the car reviews they can find to compile the list.
Skim down to the 3 row SUV list.
