Default Rear Coil spring shock @ 93K miles

When is this normally replaced? I have the front strut/coil spring and rear strut replaced last year but I forgot that the rear has a separate spring. I used KYB for the rear strut and just factory OEM on the front. The ride is smooth but on speed bumps and level changes, the ride is bouncy.

Has anyone else replaced theirs?

FYI the front has struts and the rear is a separate shock and spring.

The rear spring should last the life of the vehicle. There is nothing wrong with your spring unless the metal physically cracks. The bounce is due to the KYB rear shocks. They are a little stiffer than the stock OEM ones.

If you think the KYB rear shock is too bouncy then you should try either OEM rear shocks or Sachs rear shocks. I had the Sachs for a few months but removed them because I thought they were too soft. You will probably like them. Rock Auto often has them. Any local repair shop can replace your rear shocks in less than an hour.
Rock Auto has the Sachs shocks for $65 and the same shocks under the TRW brand label for $40 in a clearance sale. TRW owns Sachs.

They only sell those quick kits for struts to help make it easier for home mechanics to replace them without using a spring compressor and taking the strut assembly apart. That is the only reason the front spring gets replaced. There was nothing wrong with your front spring. Only the strut wore out.

Ok thanks. I'm just doing this for preventative measurements and plan to keep the RX for 5 more years (10 at the moment) and is doing very well.
