Just noticed this when washing my car today. I had my windshield replaced like 5 years ago. Is there some cement I can use, or is this a body shop thing I need to take in?
This is in front of the passenger side if that makes any difference.
Go to an automobile glass place. There are tons of them as windshields break and get replaced all the time.
They will know what to do to make sure you do not have a water leak. You may want to get a couple of estimates.
I second Clutchless advise. Don't be tempted to reach out for glue. Some seals are supposed to be pressed in and some need glue. If you glue a pressed in seal, then it creates a trap for moisture and that will start the natural process of rust. The right solution could be to get a new seal. As suggested visit two or three places and the one of the place can be the one who did the repair.
Can't tell from the pix if that's the rubber seal along the bottom of the windshield where the glass meets the plastic cowl below the wipers. If so, on our 2011 RX350 it pops off from time to time on ours as well. We have original glass that was never replaced. You could just put a little RTV silicone sealant in the groove and press it on. That should hold it in place. If you still need to pop it off, it would not be so hard to spearate like if you used an actual adhesive.
There are many online OEM Lexus parts sources such MYLPARTS or LEXUSPARTSNOW or LexusSouthAtlantaParts
Or go to glass place if you want it done properly.
Thank you, but I was hoping someone would be able to give me the number of that part. I have looked online but can't seem to find the exact part. The picture posted above IS that part. Being on a budget I was hoping a "car handy" friend might be able to help out.
I will also take your suggestion as well and stop by a "glass" business or two .
Having the same problem with my RX, does anyone know where the water goes if that seal pops off? It only comes off a little so I'm debating just leaving it as is...
