Default 2011 RX350 CAT got stolen during broad day light in Philly

Hello everyone, The CAT of My wife's 2011 RX350 got stolen a few days ago. I got the car towed to a Lexus dealer and they did the inspection then quoted 3800+tax to get my car repaired (I think it is ridiculous). My insurance has comperhensive coverage with 500 deductable. The estimate from insurance company has not done yet (They said they will do it on Monday). Is there any chance my insurance will deny to pay such a high price?Any other advices are welcome. Thank you!

I don't see why your insurance would not pay for the repair otherwise what good is having insurance? Factory exhaust parts are extremely expensive but insist on them. Insurance is obligated to put your car back to the way it was.

Go to an independent shop and get an aftermarket one or have them source a used one from a junkyard. You may end up with your old stolen one back on the car.

Thats what we pay Insurance for when Ish happens. It’s there responsibility to get the car back to the previous condition. They might try to go after market but just make sure no lights come on and that’s it’s a decent brand not a cheap Chinese knock off.

Your insurance may negotiate a lower price with the dealer or make you take it somewhere else that will use aftermarket parts.
There is nothing wrong with using aftermarket parts.

Do not use after market parts. There is zero benefit.

Thanks for all your replies. A little bit update here, the insurance approved the repair, however the dealer told me some of the parts my car need are still in back order and my car has been sitting in the shop for a month, have no idea when the parts will arrive.

Do you have substitute transportation on your insurance policy? Or will the dealer provide you a loaner car?

Best,

Tom

unfortunately I dont't have the car rental coverage, now I am using Uber for commute. I just never thought that my car would be sitting at shop for so long.
