Steering wheel rattling during braking or hitting a bump
Hello,
My wife's 13 RX350 started to develop a rattle at the steering wheel eveytime we brake or hit a bump. Is it the steering columns? Not sure what can be the problem. Anyone else has this issue?

RX 350 Repairs
Hi fellow RX owners. For months my wife had the noise near the steering wheel (found out early that it was the steering column). So we took it to Hendricks Lexus of Charlotte so they could run a diagnostic. A few hours later they told me the following were needing replacing:
Front Axle Wheel Bearing - $807
Rotor Resurfacing/ Pads - $403
Steering Column Assembly - $3414
Water Pump & Drivebelt - $ 1264
4 Wheel Alignment - $152
All and all I'm looking at a little over $6k for the repairs from the dealer. I'd hate to see the cost to replace the engine or transmission. I knew the steering wheel column was the main issue but I'm not paying that much to fix that. Either ill DIY or take it to a independent shop. I don't think the bearings are bad because there isn't any play or noise coming for there. I do believe the rotors are warped but it is cheaper to get new rotors & pads and DIY that myself. They recommend that i replace the water pump seals but i don't see any leakage form there so I'll wait until 120k when i do the drivebelt. Anyone have or had these issues? Also the vehicle is at 101.5k give or take currently.

I've inquiring about this too and the cost was around 4K in Los Angeles area. Indy shops can do it too but the part itself is very very expensive. Essentially it was made to last the life time of the vehicle. There should be a free repair from Lexus on this. (just like the "barking" noise fix from the ABS system that they just released. This really blows.
