Seat uncomfortable after 100k - advice please
Hello all. My drivers seat is becoming increasingly uncomfortable after 100k miles. I find my hips are high on the side of the seat but my spine is sinking down into the centre. (FYI I'm 5'11 - 180 lbs) If I sit in the passenger seat which is rarely used, it is much firmer on the butt. I ordered and had installed a OEM replacement foam for the seat bottom but it didn't help much. I suspect the leather seat cover has softened over time. Anyone had any similar experiences and any recommendations? I'm thinking the next step may be replacing the OEM leather but at $500 plus labour, it could be an expensive test that may not solve the problem
Thanks so much,
Doug

There are a few options to consider.
How did you replace the foam? Did you remove the leather and remove/replace the original foam? It is unclear since you talk about paying someone to replace the leather.
Cheapest is to buy a foam seat cushion like the type folks add to chairs and put it on top of the seat bottom. Then you can find aftermarket seat covers to fit over the original seat bottom. Some of them look quite good.
Try autoanything or amazon.
You can also find on used leather seat bottoms on ebay.
If the springs are weak you could try looking for a replacement lower seat cushion on eBay or local junkyards. I don't know if you can buy new seat springs. You could try one of the online Lexus parts sources. Since you already know how to take your seat apart after replacing the foam.
Try consulting a car upholstery shop about rebuilding your seat or replacing the springs.
