Default Curt 13143 Hitch Installation on F Sport

Hi! So I was thinking of adding a hitch to my 2015 RX350 F sport, but was a bit worried about the installation. From what I’ve read, it seems easy enough, but I’ve read that I might need to cut something. It seems about 50/50 with cutting vs not. Has anyone installed the curt hitch on their f sport without cutting?

Did you know that Curt makes a separate model hitch for the F-Sport. The reason is the F Sport has a lateral cross stiffening bar that the hitch has to fit around, or else you remove the lateral bar. Or get the Curt for the F Sport. They even have instructions and photos on the web site. Or remove the lateral bar because the new hitch will probably make the rear as stiff as the bar did.

I purchased the curt f sport hitch model, so I was able to keep the lateral support bar. There was a small bit of cutting that needed to be done to the under plastic. It was quite an easy install if you're even moderately mechanically inclined and have basic tools. Just take your time and make sure the hitch is thoroughly tight.

And you have to cut the plastic trim piece no matter which hitch you install on the RX.

just did mine about a week ago and I had to cut out two areas (fsport). Easy enough! And I like how the hitch doesn’t stick out. I don’t mind the towing capacity, main reason I got the hitch was for hauling bikes. Very happy with the Curt hitch!
