Bad news, turns out the Bilsteins are on back order until January. Should I wait or go with the more readily available TRQ SKA64310 ?
Bilstein is a well-known brand and presumably of higher quality... I think?

Bilstein makes the best shocks in the industry. They have been in very short supply for most of this year. If you can indeed confirm a January availability date, I would wait.

I agree, you should wait for the Bilsteins. They really are the best. You will be glad you waited for them.
A long time ago I put some Bilsteins on my old 1995 Ford Explorer and they transmformed it into something that actually was almost fun to drive and had a good ride.
Can you place an order now to be at the head of the line when they are back in stock? Or be notified about it? I think Rock Auto offers that service.

1+ Wait for the Bilsteins you’ll be glad you did. They turned my RX F-Sport from a poorly valved, sloppy, stiff and rough ride to a firm, yet comfortable ride.

Sounds good. Bilstein it is. They will not charge my credit card until the order is shipped, hopefully in early January!
Today I went down to the local Lexus dealership to pick up some parts and got a quote for the job -- $750 struts and shocks, $950 labor on front struts, $275 labor on EACH of rear shocks.

In contrast, my indie shop charges $440 labor for everything.

LOL! 440 is more like it. They've got real nerve charging 275 per shock which takes about 30-40 mins in the driveway each and probably 15-20 on the lift. Might want to consider changing the front strut mount bearings if the car has higher mileage, but I would keep the original mounts for sure. I also got new mounting bolts for the rear shocks from Toyota because they were cheap, and new OEM strut mount nuts because I couldn't get the larger 21mm Bilstein ones to fit vs 19mm stock ones. Part numbers are in one of the posts about the Bilstein shocks.

When we purchased my wife's first RX in 2003 (a 2000 RX300 AWD), the local Lexus dealership's service and parts pricing was somewhat reasonable. Today, it is absolutely insane. Anyone taking their vehicle there post-warranty is either too wealthy, too dumb, or too lazy to shop around.

Just seen FYI, I ordered my B6s in May and just received them two weeks ago. Shock warehouse kept telling me "it'll be another month."

That is happening for all items. You can go back in history and the pattern is the same [one needs to spread the window to balance out surge and slowdowns .... lately there has been a strong surge].

So who pays for the expensive warranty repairs? I assume it's the manufacturer? No wonder new cars are so expensive, now more than ever.

Wolfy .... Where are you getting the Bilstein?
I'm overseas and looking to order a set online and ship to Trinidad.

Aye Wolfy ... my oem parts numbers (48531-48080, 48531-48101, 48531-48103 48531-0E221 doesn't cross reference with the B4s. I'm might just end up with the OEMs.

That does not really matter as OEM part numbers are replaced and changed. For instance, all of the parts numbers Sweeks2020 listed above are for the same part, the rear shock absorbers. Note that there are 2 rear shock absorbers that are identical and use the same part.
It is the front struts that are different left and right.

You can look at one of the OEM Lexus parts sites and find multiple parts numbers for the same part as a vehicle ages and they get new suppliers or improved parts.
If the application is for the correct vehicles as indicated elsewhere in this thread then they will fit and work on your RX.

Thanks for your input Clutchless. I live overseas (Trinidad) and if there any issues I might be stuck with them.
