2013 RX350 Door Lock Issue
How’s it going. It’s been a long time since I was last on the forum and I am on again to ask for assistance related to my door lock issue. I’ve read through many posts about this issue and did check multiple area.
It seems the two front door actuators failed literally days apart. I prefer to replace the complete actuator housing and not buy the small part and having to open up the housing. Are the actuators the same for the front doors? Is there a specific brand that others have used from Amazon or Ebay?
My issues with my two front doors not locking or unlocking with the fob, or the lock indent on the driver door handle, or with pushing the lock button on the window switch control. It started with the front passenger door only, then a few days later the same with driver door. I can lock the two front doors manually by moving the button by the door handle, or lock all doors except front passenger door with the manual key.
Once locked, when I pull either front door handles, the car beeps, mirrors unfold, puddle lights turn on, but the two front doors won’t unlock. If I try the handles multiple times the car beeps at least 4 to 10 times depending on the door I try.
The fuses are good. I tested the car battery and it’s showing about 12.76v when car is off. I changed the FOB battery and the issue continues. I disconnected the battery to see if the system would reset and no such luck.
Thanks,
Marc

In some vehicles you do not have to replace the entire door lock actuator assembly, just one of the microswitches they contain. These microswitches are relatively fragile and tend to wear out as the years go by. My wife's 2006 Jaguar XK8 convertible had a similar but intermittent door lock issue a few years ago. Two new microswitches (one for the drivers door and one for the passenger door) ordered from mouser.com for a total of less than $15 fixed the issue.

I've seen a couple of posts about folks buying the full actuator off of Amazon and wondering if it's best to buy the actuators from Amazon or Rockauto. I know Rockauto sells the Aisin which original OEM. Amazon parts cost less, but not sure of the quality/reliability of the parts.
I read where others bought the part off of AMZ but didn't see much about the reliability of the parts or issues.
I will also have to find a local shop to install these as with arthritis in my hands it's difficult to do these types of project. If there are Houston members who can recommend a shop to install these, please let me know.
thanks,

Silva try the regional Texas forum with your questions for shop recommendations https://www.clublexus.com/forums/southwest-24/
FYI see this old thread about the actuator motor that is the real problem and which you can get for $10 on Amzn

Thank you, Clutchless. I did see the thread about changing the actuator motor, but to avoid having to open the actuator housing, I thought I would just replace the entire actuator. I am hoping to hear from other users who have replaced the complete actuator if they have had success with the ones purchased off of Amazon or if I should buy the Aisin off of Rockauto.

Does the actuator fail completely?
My drivers door has occasionally failed to lock/ unlock by touch or fob, then it worked continuously for a few months.
Now it quit for a week, I ordered a new actuator, and today it decides to work again.
I noticed because when I select drive, the the door locked. I pressed the lock unlock on the door, and it worked!
Should I change the actuator, or could it be something else. Strange it is temperamental.
