Is it possible on a 2015 RX350 with display (not Navigation) to change the number of blinks for lane change from 3 to 5?
I've seen several references to using an article posted about changing this setting on a 2014 GS350 and have tried those instructions but haven't gotten them to work on my RX350. I understand this is a LPS setting on the 2015 RX350 with Display(not Nav) so it apparently is settable by a Lexus Dealer.
I'm 60 miles from any Lexus dealers and usually get maintenance done at my nearby Toyota dealer. I asked them if they could do it but got a head-scratch and an "I don't know...never had it asked before" response... I hate to take it to a Lexus dealer (that I will have no relationship with and be only a "drop-in" since I'm not going to go there for any routine stuff). since they'll probably charge $50 just to look and who knows how much to hook up and change it...
I didn’t know this was possible on the third gens. I don’t recall seeing this feature in the settings of my nav equipped 2014 model. Maybe it’s only 2015s that have it.
Can't say for sure...I've got Display not Nav. But I did check the 2015 Owner's manual and it shows it is possible for the owner to adjust that setting in a 2015 with Nav.
I'm guessing most folks in the same situation would contact their dealer for the change. I don't have a dealer since I bought it used and am 60 miles away from the nearest Lexus dealership. That and paying dealer labor has deterred me from going that route.
From what I’ve seen, it is only possible on the newer GS and newer 2016+ RXs because they use Can BUS to control the signalling (duration, # of blinks, etc) instead of a relay.
All 3rd gen RXs incl my 2014 have a turn signal relay that is even the same one as my 2002 Highlander - old skool and analog. Toyota started adding adjustable courtesy blinkers on their newer cars that don’t utilize a relay anymore.
It could be possible that on the final year model they might have made it an option to enable in Techstream to work in conjunction with the old style signal relay, but I could never find much info on it. I’d be interested to have courtesy blinking on my RX too as my 2014 F-Sport has no such thing.
@spschneer it does seem for 2015 the RX got this feature. Very interesting. The owners manual says it can only be controlled via navigation system equipped vehicles or by the dealer unfortunately. That’s what the O under 3 and 6 means in the diagram below.
Did you call the dealer and ask for a rate? They might not charge as I’m sure it’s a simple procedure. I’m sure a Toyota dealer may be able to do this too. Maybe there’s one closer to you?
I believe the dealer will use one of those computers that plugs into the vehicle under the steering wheel. So the only other option you have would be to buy one of those computers for yourself.
