I think Justin1203 was hoping to hear only from "those that are experiencing the timing cover leak problem".

Default 82K Timing Cover Leak

VIN begins with a 2. Timing Cover leak detected by service tech at 82K. Per some banter here and Youtube mechanic videos, it seems that this is an issue of the assembly technicians at the factory not prepping the area properly. I keep hearing the same thing over and over, contamination in the weak seal point "Tri-area" where the block meets the head and cover during initial assembly. The dealer wants $7224. to repair the leak. I don't see much more than a small amount seep on the block so I'll monitor it for now. Any thoughts on a class action? Should there have been a recall or Technical bulletin?

Unfortunately, there is no recall or TSB. They call it a "campaign", that is only covered under warranty period. After that it's SOL.

Last year I did the hi temp silicone sealer trick at the 3 way intersection. Scuffed the area really well with scotchbrite and cleaned it. Smeared the silicone sealer in there and let it dry. So far so good. BTW, VIN starts with a 2
