Default Leaving my 2022 RX sit for a month

A mechanic buddy I asked said the car would be fine for a month. Has anyone here let there car sit for so long or longer? I thought about putting the battery on a Battery Tender, but at the same time, I am not sure I would want to leave it plugged in for the duration.

My Wife's 2020 has sat during Covid that long plus she works from home with only 20k on the clock. Also, our RX is garaged and I have something else to drive.
Maybe, a battery tender might be an option you may not have the results as I did.

We are snowbirds and go to FL for 3-4 months and put a Tender on our RAV4. Never a problem, starts right up in the spring like we never left. I'd say it's well worth it.

Not the best idea to let a battery drain down all the way. A healthy (newer) battery should be ok after 1 month but after 6 or 7 weeks or longer without a charge you risk reducing the life of the battery.

I have put many vehicles away for the winter....3-5 months. Only one tired old Chevy would not start....needed a boost.

One month, turn it off hot and leave it.

Cheers

A battery maintainer (not a trickle charger) that varies output will keep a battery for a long time. I use one on vehicles left unstarted for 6 months at a time and they are always good to go right away. I have an RV camper with two Optimas that have been in it for over 20 years and have had a maintainer on all the time when sitting. The nice thing is you don't have to disconnect anything so all the electronics are still functioning normally.

My mom thought her 2013 RX350 had a dead battery, since she's elderly and doesn't drive it as much anymore. I replaced the battery a few months ago. I went to check, the message on the dash said to put the key fob against the starter button. I tapped the key fob against the button and the message on the dash said to start it up normally. And it did, no hesitation, it started right up.

I just bought a NOCO Genius 5 battery tender, just in case.

Get a battery tender, These things are great you can leave them attached to your battery indefinitly, I have a 1991 acura that sits for a long time ,Last battery lasted 7 years on a tender, Make sure its the battery tender name made by deltran

Not so fast with that brand. Lately, I've had variable results with them. One Battery Tender lasted more than 10 years on my often-garaged Vette. But I've had 2 in the recent past last only 2-3 years. The last one gave out while I was on vacation last month, so it didn't work when I really needed it. They have a 10-year guarantee which I've used. But of course, you have to pay for return shipping. I'm now considering other brands. We buy Lexus's for their reliability and a trickle charger/maintainer really must be very reliable.

Have you checked out C-Tek? I've had them for many years, I own two of them.

Thanks, no, but they seem to have excellent ratings on Amazon. As an aside, I have always bought Deltran units for the simple and admittedly silly reason that I don't have to modify their quick connect which is permanently attached to our car batteries. Do the C-Tek have the same male/female plugs? My gut feeling is that the most reliable units should be all solid state without any mechanics such as relays. I bought my first Battery Tender in 1999 and the design appears to not have changed. Has anyone ever opened one to examine its construction? I'm wondering what's in them that has them failing.

The C-Tek is very easy to connect, push the tab and connect, push again to disconnect. You do have to install the pigtail to the battery terminals to connect the ends, very easy. This is a one time procedure. Now it's easy to use.
