Default Tire psi read out showing ———

2016 RX350 with 103000 trouble free miles. I recently noticed that the tire psi on the dash is not reading anything. It just shows ———. Anyone else having this issue?

TIA

A TPM sensor may have died. If one goes out the whole system quits working. Your local tire store can check it for you.

Stupid question, but I'll still ask: You didn't change tires/wheels recently?

Even stupider question - you're checking after driving a bit and not at startup I presume?

I would love to see a constructive answer. I have the same problem after buying new tires. The vendor checked all of the tire module's batteries and entered the codes for each location into the OBD.

Read the manual - there is some initialization procedure I believe that may solve your problem. I've had the tires replaced on both of our Lexus cars and didn't have any issue so perhaps your vendor skipped a step.

TPMS was evaluated by two Lexus service centers and the tire retailer. There were no codes to deal with. Though the battery strength of all four modules were ok, all three servers recommended replacing all four TPMS sensors. Discount tire installed BH Sens sensors with complementary rotation and balancing. The system is fully operational.

Anyone know how to disable the TPMS: I'm tired of having it fail at random times. When I bought my '17 RX 350 a few months ago, it had new tires and everything worked fine, Then it started giving me bad ---- info on all tires, then started, working once again. All tires have measured 32 psi.
I've seen several comments on how unreliable this system is, and I'm ready to disable it . Don't think the Owners manuals will tell you how to turn it OFF.
Any ideas?
Steve

I can think of 2 ways to fix it.
1. Take it to Lexus and have them disable the TPMS using the factory computer and the OBD II port. Texas does not require a functioning TPMS system.
2. Stick a piece of black tape over the area that displays the TPMS message on your dash.

I thought TPMS was a Federal requirement like crash worthiness or headlights.

Most tire shops have TPMS scanning tools that allows them to see if a sensor works or not.

Typical sensor battery life is about 10 years. So a bit early for that to fail for a 2017.

Are they Original sensors ? (Silver Metal tube coming out of the rim)

Its a law that the factory has to install them. Depending on the state you live in, most require it to be functional (part of annual inspection) but some do not.

OEM Denso or Pacific TPMS sensors cost $95-125 each. BH Sens (Huf) cost as little as $25-60. I went the latter route because of a 6 year warranty.
