Default New to Lexus: 2021 RX350L Maintenance Costs?

Hello all — new member here looking to purchase my first Lexus, either 2020 or 2021 RX350L AWD. Planning to purchase it L/ certified with 5 year extension (so 7 years / unlimited mileage warranty in total). They seem to be right around 40-45k mark which pretty much puts me in Toyota Highlander territory anyways and my family doesn’t necessarily need size of Highlander plus the recalls of Highlander and made in Japan nature of 350L is attractive to me as I will plan to put 150-200k on it over next 10 years.

I’ve driven US domestic vehicles my whole life and maintenance is generally pretty cheap until big things start breaking…which hope not to be the case for Lexus. For example there really isn’t such thing as a 40k, 50k, 60k, etc. services it’s more so just oil changes flushes and tire rotations.

Can anyone help provide a sense or point me to where I can find info on what maintenance is required on these vehicles other than oil changes and tire rotations and what these might cost? For example, does anyone keep detailed maintenance cost records or any dealers that publicly post pricing for all the Xk mile services?

The car price seems good and I know reliability solid but want I want to avoid is purchasing my first luxury vehicle and realizing maintenance costs are through the roof.

Thanks!!

For me, the routine maintenance cost of a Lexus is exactly the same as the routine maintenance cost of any other vehicle because I don't fall for the typical Lexus (or any other brands) service scams like the 20K, 40k, 60k pricing scams. Just do your homework and figure out the proper schedule for maintenance items like oil changes, etc. and then only purchase these services. For me in my area, this usually means going to the Toyota or non-Lexus service facilities for the things I can't do myself. You will only pay more for maintenance on a Lexus if you allow it to happen.

This is for a 2022 RX but a 2021 will be very similar and will give you a good overall idea of what to expect. The maintenance schedule begins on page 48.

I wouldn’t even buy a warranty extension. Use that money to do your own maintenance and oil changes for the next 5 years.
