If everything was neatly tucked up and out of sight, you would not have the flat rear floor (and extra leg room). Honda seems to have given up the flat rear floor; only Toyota continues with that, it seems.
the Murano has the same cheap looking pipe..... looks like an afterthought, almost

LEXUS RX TO MAKE ITS GLOBAL DEBUT UNDER THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF THE BIG APPLE
LEXUS WILL INTRODUCE THE ALL-NEW RX AT THE 2015 NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW
Brussels, Belgium - When the RX model launched 17 years ago, it defined a new luxury segment. Since then, it has dominated mid-size luxury utility vehicle sales globally. The fourth generation RX will make its global debut at a press conference in the Galleria at Jacob Javits Convention Center on Wednesday, April 1 at 9:10 a.m. EDT (15:10 CET).
that latest spy pic reminds me of the terrible looking pictures that came out of that japan auto magazine a month back. (check out this thread post #214) hoping it doesn't look that bad or it will absolutely make sales plummet. think 2009-2014 Acura TL and how that pretty much killed acura

I hope it does look like that! I like the new look! Pretty sure we'll go for it when our current RX lease is up in 2016.
It seems like every time a new Lexus comes out with the new design language, people declare that sales are going to plummet, yet sales continue to rise.
The fourth generation of Lexus' RX mid-size crossover will have its world debut at the 2015 New York International Auto Show on April 1.
The darkened teaser picture released by Lexus suggests that the 2016 RX will have a more dynamic and angular exterior with stronger and sharper profile lines that carry some of the edgy funkiness of the smaller NX, along with prominent rear fenders and a floating roof design with a signature third rear-window.
At the back, the tail lamps look a lot like those found on the latest GS and IS sedans.
There aren’t any photos of the interior yet, but we suspect the RX to feel like a bigger and more luxurious NX inside, festooned with all sorts of gadgets and electronic features.
Lexus was mum on the powertrain options, though, a V6 in both regular and hybrid guises should be on offer in North America, while there's also talk about a four-cylinder turbocharged unit for Europe, Japan and other international markets.
We’ll know more in the coming days leading to the opening of the NY Auto Show.
