12/15/15= Production date.
12/15/15= Port processing.
12/18/15= Rail departure.
12/29/15=Rail arrival Phoenix (This is the distribution place for all the dealers in this area).
Dealer said my 450h will be here in Tucson within the next couple days. Can't wait! No concerns at all about this being my first 450h not built in Japan.

Those Made in Japan Lexus are the best. However, these Canada built are outstanding also, very close to the quality of Made in Japan. But, any vehicles made in USA are crappy. Even Lexus cannot figure out the right way, look at those ES350

one way you can always tell where yours was made is by looking at the vin. if it starts with JT its from japan. Japan Tahara. the ones made in North America start with 2T2.
The 2016 RX350 AWD I bought yesterday was made in Japan. I was surprised by it - was expecting it to be from Canada.

Seems like dealer should have the most information.
Not sure what the difference would be between a production date as mine, and build date as yours? As for the printout I received, my dealer printed it to give an estimated time of arrival when I made a deposit on 12/30. It was one of the few incoming allotted hybrids they currently receive at this small market dealer. Virtually all sell before reaching the showroom. Just happened to be the color my wife wanted (Nightfall Mica), and had what I wanted option wise and also AWD.

My question is where did you get the dates? Was it tracked in real time or did your dealer give you that info? All I have is the production date of jan 7. I imagine mine will be faster than the 2 weeks you had once it's produced since we are closer to Canada.

Default 2016 vin number starts with JTJ

Picked up my 2016 RX 350 just after Christmas, salesman mentioned that it was a japan car, Vin number seems to indicate the same!

If you had a choice you'd have to take the Japanese version ... Anything made in Japan is always miles ahead in terms of quality . No one can compete with their obsession with perfection . It's why you buy a Lexus !

Yes, you can buy a J(apan) VIN vehicle. If your dealer didn't have one, find a dealer who did.

The 1st character in a car's vehicle identification number indicates the country in which it was manufactured.

Some of the country codes include:

1, 4, 5: United States
2: Canada
3A-37: Mexico
J: Japan
VF-VR: France
9: Brazil
WA-W0: West Germany
S: Great Britian

Logistically it makes zero sense to send the Canada built ones there.
But quality wise they are the same.
It is shipping costs that vary.

Anything else you put on top of this is just personal bias and not based on any empirical facts.
