Got to spend a little time with a 4RX today...
I had a little time in between appointments and I stopped by one of the local Lexus dealers, just to see what might be new on the lot. Lo and behold, they had one 4RX buried back on the lot. I got to poke around it for a while and take a look inside.
Overall I like it better in person. The front overhang doesn't look as long in person, and it doesn't look as "radical" in person. This was a fairly ordinary AWD 350, stickered at $51k. Had fairly small wheels, needs bigger wheels. Color was silver lining with a grey interior. I definitely would get something darker both inside and outside.
Interior is very nice, material quality is a huge upgrade from the outgoing car. Still a little awkward IMHO with the way the console goes up in that curve, but unique, and the screen placement, but overall a very nice place to be.
Did not drive it, it had not been PDI'ed yet.

I would buy one for sure.

Mine came in today and I was surprised at how much better it looks in person. I actually love the front and overall look. Pictures do not do it justice.
I did not get to pick it up as it was late in the afternoon and it was not ready for me.

Test drove a 2016 RX 350 today in CA
Hi all! I'm new to the board and have been lurking around reading various updates and comments regarding the new 2016 RX. Having read that people reported the new model appearing at dealerships, I took time out today to go visit the local dealer during my lunch break. Luckily, there happened to be one 2016 RX 350 with the premium package. It truly looks beautiful in person and the test drive was amazing! The interior was the noble brown with beige leather, and although I'm going for the F-Sport with Rioja red, I liked the two-toned scheme and bamboo interior. I have attached some pictures for your viewing pleasure, as well as the sticker, an inventory sheet of what is coming to that dealer in the next few weeks, and also a legend for the option abbreviations.

@hkbruin2, that interior looks nice but I'm with you, I would be more interested in the rioja red.
Not sure the name of those rims but they are growing on me. Wish the F Sport rims were available on the standard RX. I'm guessing that they are for a price.

I'm probably gonna go with a 350 luxury...but hope I can somehow acquire/bribe/beg for those hot F-Sport wheels. They look SO good with Nebula:

I got to see the car for the first time today as well. Here are my notes...
1. Interior is beautiful. Definitely feels more like you are sitting in a car than an SUV (which will take me a while to get used to as I am definitely one to like the feeling of riding up in an SUV)
2. I actually like the Luxury rims with painted parts more than I thought I would. I found out the painted parts are removable and the rims themselves look MUCH better without them. I think instead of spending the extra $1300 on the split 5 spoke I will stick with the standard Luxury rims and have the painted parts removed.
3. I played with the heads up display for a good 15 mins. I couldn't figure out what part is supposed to be color. Everything I saw was strictly white. I'm thinking maybe the navigation directions are where the color comes in to play?
4. The touchless rear door is way too slow to be practical. Might have just been the car we were testing it on, but we had to stand there for a full 4 seconds with our hand hovering 1/2 inch from the Lexus symbol for it to work. Way way too slow for me and easily frustrating.
5. The ML sound system is awesome. We were just listening to standard radio with it and the clarity was beautiful.
6. The 12.3 nav is HUGE and awesome. I saw the 12.3in in the LX at the Concours D'elegance a few months ago. It felt large in the LX, but it feels even bigger in the smaller RX. You can't tell what it really looks like until you see it in person.
7. The grey sapele wood is greyer than I expected... but I think it's a color I can live with and I definitely like the aluminum stripping.
8. I'm going to miss the cup holder on the left hand side of the steering wheel.
9. I'm also a bit disappointed in the brightness of the "puddle lamps" which are now integrated into the door handles instead of under the mirror. The light in the 2015 RX under the mirror is much brighter for seeing the ground at night. I know it's a silly thing to notice but I'm all about the small details.
10. Rear seat is extremely comfortable. I adjusted the front seat to my preferred setting (lifted all the way up to the ceiling but all the way back as far as possible, I'm 6' tall) at this setting I was very comfortable in the rear seat and could sit there for many hours.
11. I don't think it will bother me, but the steering wheel is 1inch off centered from the seat to the right (this is very obvious now that there is stitching down the center of the seat in the luxury model). I know they had steering wheel issues in the original 3rd RX. They fixed the steering wheel position in 2013, but looks like they switched again for 2016.
All in all I'm planning on putting my deposit down for the exact configuration I want tomorrow. I'm excited and happy with the car.
