That certainly is annoying. I have prescription sunglasses that are polarized. Guess I'll have to get new ones.
Not giving up my polarized prescription sunglasses. It does dim the display some but with non polarized sunglasses you get lots of reflections off the dash on the windshield.
I have prescription Serengeta sunglasses that work with the HUD in my BMW and they work well in the RX. Did not notice glare in RX. Of course Serengeta sunglasses is what most pilots wear. They are not polarized!

I am the pilot of my 38' fishing vessel and I will not be giving up my polarized sunglasses, even for your name brand glasses. I have tried non-polarized sunglasses and would not go off shore without them or for a drive.
Mine are also prescription and cost me $700 and I do not feel the need to mention their brand name.
It even reads the local speed limit sign and post the speed limit right next to your actual speed
I also thought this is how it worked, but it's actually using the stored speed limits from the navigation system maps. On our 3K-mile trip it was wrong about 1/3 of the time so I don't depend on it. I can't imagine how much work is involved keeping these up-to-date.

Yeah, you're correct about that. I had forgotten how bad the glare is with the non-polarized kind.
Guess I'll have to live without the HUD in the daytime.

I'll have to check how it does with the best high end Xperio polarized lenses.
Ok, Im trying to figure out this HUD, My speed limit sign only stays up there for 1 minute after passing sign. The navigation info only comes up .25 miles prior to turn and doesn't seem to do that when on the interstate. I have been looking for a way to change this in settings but haven't found any way to change this. Is this the way the lexus HUD works or is there a way to change these things. My nav screen will show turn in 20 mi but nothing on HUD
Assuming the new HUD Nav guidance works like my '13 HUD then you get HUD directions .25 miles on city roads and 2.0 miles on highway/interstate, just like the Nav screen.
I am just starting my research for a new vehicle purchase next year and the RX is on the top end of my list. I really like the idea of the HUD but so far I am only seeing it on fully loaded RX 350's at $59k. Now that Mazda is offering a HUD on the new CX-9 GT & Signature Edition, perhaps Lexus will include it as part of their base model, I'm sure they won't but it can't hurt to dream.
Look at RX build on Lexus.com and you will see is a stand alone option. The dealers may order it for more loaded cars but look around and you may find they ordered for a less optioned vehicles.
I am hoping to, so far the HUD in my market is only on the fully loaded with features I don't deem necessary, but then again HUD is useful but not essential.
