It cannot be bought online. You've to buy it from a dealer's F&I department. Typically forums like this and others have ppl post the out of state dealer they bought it from.

I will re-state my previous post. We bought our maintenance contract on our Mercedes from an out of state dealer and we will buy the extended warranty the same way. Good idea on a Mercedes. The Mercedes forum has a very active thread and area on extended warranties where dealers compete with each other. Prices are not posted by the dealers but they are relayed by forum members that have purchased from them. You communicate with a few of them and take the best price and service. Lots of feedback and some of the dealers are really great to work with. These are genuine Mercedes warranties, not third party. They seem to make a living or at least supplement their income by selling warranties and maintenance contracts. They seem to be doing a bunch of them. Dealers honor these contracts and we have had no problem., Wish similar were available for Lexus. Wonder if this information has not been disseminated or if Lexus will not honor out of state warranty contracts.

Default extended warranty purchase

hello everyone, i have searched this forum and did not find a previous thread on my subject so im writing a new one. Sorry if there is one but i missed it. i just purchased a 2017 RX350 F sport however the bumper to bumper has expired because its over the 50K mile limit. when i purchased the vehicle the dealer wanted to up charge me for the extended warranty so i passed. has anyone found a dealer that offers an extended warranty for a decent price? Also the car is in California. thanks in advance.

Your best warranty right now is the service records of the vehicle. If properly and timely serviced with the right oil/fluids IMO an xtended warranty isn't warranted.

I got the exact same quote from my dealer here in Ontario. Picking it up next week.

The sales person recommended I purchase the 84/140k for $3370. Based on my understanding, this is basically a three year extension beyond the manufacturer 4 year warranty correct? So $3,370 for an extra 3 yrs. Seems expensive to me when you look at it that way... basically paying about $1,100/yr for coverage.

I'm inclined to pass... it feels redundant that I'm buying a Lexus primarily for the reliability and then spending more for extended insurance. Kind of defeats the value proposition of Lexus. I might as well get something more fun and less reliable like an Audi if I were gonna get extended coverage.

Having said that, I'm open minded to feedback since you guys know a lot more. What do u think?

I agree that it seems expensive, given the inherent reliability of the Lexus. I would like to mention this, however:

You are talking about a genuine Lexus warranty, which in my view would be the preferred way to go, if you were to do it. Other brands allow you to buy the same factory warranty from Lexus, but through other dealers that may offer it at a discount. I don't know if that is the case with Lexus. On one of the German brands, there are dealers whose finance managers specialize in selling these warranties at a discount and doing large volume. Something to think about.
