Every Lexus vehicle I have had has had repairs done. After the original warranty was expired. That were more than the cost of the extended warranty.

My ISF had the dash completely removed and every Air Conditioning part replaced trying to fix the always blowing hot issue.

My current RX with 55K miles has a handful of smaller issues since I got it. Then the engine and transmission were removed 6 weeks ago for oil and water leaks. 5K job.

I know there are lots of comparison for and against extended warranty. What's a good price for extended warranty? How long they usually cover till? The perception it's not covering most components.

We have a '13 Honda Ody that I had done for RMS (Rear Main Seal) and that was like over $3.1K with left sliding door cable repair last year also.

Extended warrenty is bull****.

I never buy it.

If something does go wrong its and arm and a leg to get them to approve it. They always try to find a way not to fix it.

Extended warrenty should only be purchased they day of buying the car. Period.

I spoke to Jerry regarding a platinum warranty, he offered a Toyota financial platinum warranty for my 2018 RX350 F sport, will that affect me bringing it to a Lexus dealership, and will it require any extra steps in oppose to me getting one from Lexus financial?

thanks for your help and I appreciate all the info everyone!

ANY Lexus warranty work MUST be performed by a Lexus dealer!
Now I'm not sure if Toyota can, as such, offer a warranty on a Lexus product unless it acts as a 3rd party provider. I'd be very very careful before buying it.

I am of the same opinion that the Lexus warranty is only valid at a Lexus dealer.

I wonder if I should have purchased extended warranty

Labor was so cheap though. Doesn't look that hard to replace but for that labor price, it's better to have somebody do it.

Like I have said numerous times on these Forums. If you have an ES with just AC and XM radio. You can probably get away with the factory and power train warranty.

But you start having a vehicle with more options. Like NAV, WIFi or incar entrainment, AWD, reclining seats, convertible or panoramic sunroof. And then add on if it’s a first year of a remodel.

Then is it worth the 1.50 a day to sleep better. Knowing whatever the issue. You just drop off the keys and drive away with a loaner till they call you. And say it’s ready for pickup.

Until they tell you about the exclusions. End of the day, it's no different than investment risk tolerance. Buy the 95% profit margin to the dealer product if it helps you sleep at night.

I sleep better knowing my 1200 investment has returned almost 5000 in repairs on my current RX350. And my ISF I owned before probably had closer to 8.000 dollars in repairs during the extended warranty period.

mine of the reason I purchase the Lexus warranty is for the convenience. There’s no fuss no muss. If I have an issue. I make an appointment for a loaner. Drop the keys on the desk and drive away.

With a different warranty. You would have to coordinate between the two companies. About getting the work done. Or possibly pay for the repair yourself. Then get reimbursed by the warranty company.
