Save your money. You are already buying one of the most reliable brands on the market. Besides, dealer service is not what you think it is. Case in point, ours uses a no name wholesale oil from 55 gallon drums.

 

At the dealers, the vehicle salesman is the FIRST salesman that will try to take in all the $$$ out of your pocket. Be repaired for round 2, with the finance department. All the extras they make huge money on, like you mentioned. Just say no.

 

My salesman must have brought up extended waranty purchase 3-4 times during test drive. Then another 2-3 times during negotiations. Then another 2 times during signing. Relentless.... Got pissed off when I told him to stop trying to sell me the extended warranty.

 

15RX. dont let there job get in your way, they are bent on up selling you. So, take them down the other side and throw an absurd low ball counter at them and see what sticks. No one needs to sign anything, have fun playing the game. Go getem.

 

fodalo. I just hate the salesman speil and pressure and lies. Was told warranty extension for 3 yrs was $3300. If I did not buy then, I would not be able to buy it. LOL! The other one I remember was windshield insurance. It was some ridiculous price.

 

15RX Thats a good thing that you recognized the lies typical car salesman pitch. I have not gotten to that point. Mrs. RX is 1-1/2 yrs old. I will do the homework required when I cross that bridge. Like what others have said, Lexus vehicles is a brand that is consistent with quality with less trips to the dealer, its why I have 3 lexus's in the yard.

 

I just purchased a certified 2021 RX350 - 3 years old, well optioned with 20k miles. It appears to me that there are some subtle variations in the Platinum VSA plans (the parts covered are all identical):
1) The one I purchased was from the dealer F&I guy. It is 5 years from the expiration date of the CPO warranty which gives me 8 years of coverage (1 year on original 4 year warranty, 2 years on CPO warranty plus 5 years on Platinum VSA). It has unlimited mileage and no deductible at any Lexus dealer. Apparently it must be purchased at the time you buy the CPO vehicle. I paid $3740.
2) The other version such as sold by Jerry Johnson (who is excellent to deal with). This one lets you choose the duration and mileage limits and the duration is based on the original in-service date of the vehicle. In my case, choosing the 10 year term would get me 4 years of additional coverage as this warranty would overlap with the 2 year CPO warranty. The ending date for this one and the one I purchased are identical. There is not an option for unlimited miles. Jerry wrote that there was no deductible ay any Lexus dealer. I believe this warranty can be purchased any time before expiration of the original 4 year new car warranty. Jerry's price for this one with 125k mileage coverage was $3460.
In the end I chose to pay $280 more to buy from the local dealer because of the unlimited mileage vs 125k mile cap. I keep cars a long time and would be very near or over 125k in year 10. However, I do feel Jerry's prices and services are excellent.

 

The wear and tear items are not covered batteries, brakes linings, belts, tires, wiper blades , squeaks and raffles after the 4/50 BTB (tissue boxes lol ) etc etc


we decided to keep our New RX350 2022 awd I'm calling Jerry soon to get the 8/75K Platinum for $1865 that will take us into 2030 unless someone on here can find it cheaper.. we average about 6k miles a year on it.. 3 vehicle family I have a beater i use mostly for me and my Taco for outdoor ventures

Some people want piece of mind beyond the manufacturer's warranty. Nothing wrong with that.

 

I just did the deal for a 10 year 100K mile extended warranty with Troy Dietrich at fd-warranty.com (Toyota of Greenfield, 413-772-0989 or 413-773-5455 for the dealership) for my RXL 350 and had a very good experience (I'm in Texas). I had started discussions back in May of 2023, but that same week Lexus had a press release about the TX coming out later this year. I put things on hold until I could see a TX, which I finally did in December and it was a no-sale. Completed the deal with Troy for the RXL 350 extended warranty. Smooth transaction, very professional. The warranty just arrived in the mail from Lexus yesterday. Big savings over the local dealer.

Also, FWIW, I've had 100K mile extended warranties before on both a Toyota Celica and a Lexus 470 in years past. Both more than paid for themselves in saved repair costs during that last 10,000 miles. I definitely consider the extended warranty worth it if the car is a "keeper", especially given how much of modern cars are electronic parts.

 

Can you give details please? Price paid, which warranty? And Troy's email to get the warranty deal done?

Does anyone know if you can you purchase a Lexus Warranty on an out of warranty vehicle. My RX350 is a just purchased 2017 with 45K miles.

There are two types of Lexus Platinum Warranty (or "Vehicle Service Agreements" as they are known). The CPO "wrap" warranty - can be any number of years (up to 5) and unlimited mileage. Starts at the end of your CPO warranty and is essentially identical to it. The second is the regular extended warranty. The warranty starts on the first day of ownership and runs in parallel to the manufacturers warranty for the first 4 years. It is significantly inferior to the 4/50 manufacturers warranty (there are lots of things it doesn't cover). So you essentially lose 4 yrs/50,000 miles of that warranty - for example, the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty actually takes over at the end of the factory warranty and runs for an additional 6 years, not 10 years and 50,000 miles, not 100,000 miles!

I've had both. The CPO wrap is significantly less expensive than the regular extended warranty but provides identical coverage.
