I would say your figures are on the low end of normal. There are so many variables involved -- weight of passengers and cargo, wind and temperature conditions, grade of gasoline, A/C running or not, driver habits on acceleration and braking, etc. etc. My 2018 can get as low as 17 or 18 if I'm impatiently dashing around in the suburbs in hot or cold weather, especially with some passenger and cargo weight. On longer freeway trips, in mild weather, and using cruise control, 35 psi tire pressure, with 89 octane fuel, I've seen 28 mpg.

Default MPG is nothing (I mean nothing) close to what it should be

Hi All,

2022 Lexus RX350 F-Sport.

Filled up with with quality 89 fuel from day 1.

I've tried eco, normal, and sports mode - none of them get me anywhere close to the advertised MPG.

I drive conservatively, not in severe weather, not carrying any extra weight - even if I stay at 65-70 MPH, I get at *most* 22 MPG on the highway (no uphill, etc.)

Is this normal? Do I have a foot to stand on to force Lexus to look at what the heck is going on?

Best city MPG is 18 and again, this is with optimal driving.

Most new cars will increase MPG after break in. Hopefully this will improve after you put some miles on!

I've got 25K miles on this car. When is it considered broken in?

That's pretty normal -- you won't convince Lexus there's anything wrong, with those numbers. Next highway trip, try using your cruise control for as much of it as possible. I don't know what the magic is, but my 2018 always gets its best mileage when I set the radar cruise control.

RX 350 AWD can be economical if you drive less than 2K RPM (almost impossible in today’s world)
70% fway 30% city
2017

my normal mpg for this route is 21 mpg

I routinely now get about 21 - 22 mpg on a similar route of hwy/city....but that is at 75 - 80 mph. When I drive around 60 my mpg goes up at least a few.

I am pretty happy with these numbers considering the relative size and the fact that we can use regular. (my daily commute is about 100 miles, so mileage does matter for me).

M y 2-17 got great numbers like this always on Interstate driving. My 2022 is barely 20 - 21 mpg.

2016 RX350 F-Sport: 155,000km driven (96,000 Miles) so far. Life time Average Fuel economy: 10.5 L/100km (22.4 MPG). When I drive it smoothly and 70% highway I average about 9.5 L/100km (24.8 MPG) in winter; 8.9 L/100KM ( 24.4 MPG) in spring with NO AC. When driven in city only Average is 12-14 L/100km (19.6-16 MPG).

Overall pretty thirsty, but it's got good punch if and when I feel like extracting it. But Being a 3.5L V6 in a heavy SUV this is to be fully expected. At least it runs on regular gas as opposed to its German competitors.

Default Sudden Mileage Increase - super weird

Hi guys,

I bought my RX350 in 2017. I have 54k miles. I just got my tired rotated and re-balanced. All of the sudden, I have better gas mileage on the instrument cluster. SUPER weird.

I used to get like 20mpg combined highway and city driving. All the sudden, I am seeing 26mpg. I thought it was an error, so I reset and I drove for 100 miles, and it's still 26mpg. Obviously, I didn't change any of my driving routine or habit. After I fill up the gas tank, it's showing similar distance travel remaining. I am not sure what to make out of this... I've never seen numbers like this on my RX. Is there something wrong with my car?

I'd bet your tire pressure was low, but not enough to set off the TPMS. Notice any difference in the ride? If you have a tire gauge, check them.

I have found that the best way to measure your mileage is to fill the tank and reset your trip odometer, then, the next time you fill up note the mileage that was driven and divide the gallons to fill the tank. That will be a true measure as long as your filling up slowly and stop at the first click-off of the pump or pump slowly until the next auto shutoff. Do this every time for a couple of fill-ups and see what you get. Keep us posted.

Getting a better gas mileage is usually not a cause of concern, a bad gas mileage is though.

however, if you do not like the better gas mileage you can easily deflate your tires. just kidding..
