2016 RX 350 Excessive noise and vibration
#361
We just took ours in for the 5k mile service and I asked about the vibration. The service writer felt it immediately upon me taking him around the block. We left for a few hours and when we returned, the service writer gave me the exact same excuse... "it is a normal characteristic of the vehicle."
I feel just like the rest of you... disappointed. Our RX is nearly fully loaded and was not cheap, but the vibration sure makes it feel that way. Our little Mazda 3 doesn't vibrate and it was 1/3 the cost!

I was looking for a car such as the rx, but after seeing all the problems this car experiences + it is little slow for my tast I changed my mined especially since it costs around 66k US here.

At first I didn't want to point out how to find the vibration b/c you didn't notice any on your new car. But yes, maintaining 1400 rpm on highway is the best way to find this vibration. Like you said it's hard to notice the vibration in the city as the rpm is not at 1400 for long. It suck to Drop $57k to have this vibration. I could have save $20k if I bought the highlander and it drive more smooth without any vibration.
Some member complain about the vibration to Lexus. Lexus say it's normal to have vibration and it's the characteristics of the car. What a bunch of bull. I bet all my money (not much btw) that Lexus don't advertise these vibration characteristics anywhere.
I wish somebody would start a class action lawsuit against Lexus. It's been over a year and still no fix

GS vs RX
if it is the latest gen GS you probably won't have any issue because the RX is quieter. I've twice test driven a 2016 GS and there is a lot of vibration coming from the AWD drivetrain that protrudes into the cabin near the driver (so much so that there is a significant reduction in lateral legroom).

The official spin is: if it is designed that way, it is not a defect. Had the same excuses on two toyotas and an ES350. No doubt, their cars are more reliable, but it is "managed" reliability. This message thread would have been moderated out of existence by now if it weren't for the large number of complaints. I still love the Lexus brand as I think they offer high quality and value for my luxury dollars. Some folks take issue with them sharing engines and transmissions with toyotas, but I see that as a huge positive when it comes to longer term parts availability.

Remember that the people on this forum is a small fraction of people who purchased the vehicle. People tend to voice their opinions when they don't like something. I have a 2016 RX 350 F Sport with zero vibration issues.
If I did, I wouldn't sit and pout. I'd try the solution one of the users tried. It's an easy fix. Sure, I would be upset I spent this much on a car, but at the end of the day you purchased the vehicle and unless you want to sell it for a loss, try the solution the other user did.

Small fraction but = normal performance per dealer, not sure the math works here. Also I my voicing the "FACT" not my opinion as this noise is real.
At the end this complaining is pretty much useless and I will try to "fix" this problem later but again it is funny that we all have to "fix" a freaky new $50k car.

Mine is a 2017 and it Drones and vibrates. I leased this, but if I didnt I would go to a muffler shop and try different
mufflers. V6 engines do not like dual exhaust. I ran into this with my Challenger. The Drone with the performance exhaust
was horrible. I think trying different muffles night me worth a shot. When I complained I was told Lexus is working on a solution. But the fact that this has went into the next model year means their certainly are in no hurry to fix this assuming there
really is a fix. At this point I will do everything I can to stop people from getting stuck with a 50k drone machine.

Lexus gets away with a subpar audio system such as the Lexus premium audio in the base ES350. The system has a permanent surround echo that can't be turned off, and the speakers are low quality. Yet people accept it because it is called Lexus premium audio. As I've said before, I think the Lexus brand is of high value for my luxury dollars.
