Is anyone with a 2018 RX experiencing the dronning issue? I looked through this thread but could not find a 2018 vehicle referenced.

So glad I traded mine in. best decision I could have made. Nothing more frustrating than spending 50k+ and getting the run around.
This is flat out a bad design and varies from vehicle to vehicle, thats why Lexus can not come up with a real fix. Putting dampers on the exhaust pipe, what a joke.

Lexus dropped ball on this one from the beginning. That's called band aid patch fix. Good thing I did not get Another RX.

I feel like my new 2018 450h is a bit loud and droney/ grumblely between 1000-1500rpm when accelerating from a stop. For reference, my 450h is much louder than my old 2007rx and even louder than my 2013 Honda odyssey V6. Is this normal, is the 450h even affected with the exhaust issue or would this fall into what folks here are seeing here?

Play this YouTube video, and go in 6 minutes and 19 seconds, and you will hear the exhaust drone that we are experiencing.

I’m not sure what vehicle you came out of, but I find my ‘16 RX 450h engine one of the quietest vehicles I’ve ever been in. Perhaps the CVT gives you the perception that the vehicle drones. I could see that. When I compared the 350 to the 450h, the 450h was hands down the more quiet of the two. Also, keep in mind that the 3.5 V-6 is no slouch. It produces a lot more power today that in models past. It’s a given that engines that produce more power, are louder. They often have larger intake & exhaust that will make them louder by nature. Indy cars are not quiet & they are 4 cylinders. The 350 has a flawed rattle/drone in the exhaust that the 450h doesn’t have. Lexus dropped the ball on their bread & butter best selling model & they will pay the price for that as many have walked away. It’s something each owner has to decide, if they choose to keep it & live with it or if they decide to dump it.

Default Rear Engine Mount

Dealer said that there is an updated engine mount and they will install it on Monday. Hopefully that will help my droning problem.

Anyone beside RX3502018 have this new part installed? Has it helped?

Appreciate your feedback on this. I am no mechanic or engine expert, I think what you said makes sense. I do noticed that my engine and exhaust is louder during acceleration when comparing it to my 1st Gen RX(single exhaust, 3.0L, 220hp engine). Don't think I hear any drone issue so far.

For you Geeks.

This is what the rear Engine Mount (Insulator, Engine) Looks like. This diagram is for the old part -- 12371-OP270. The updated part is 12371-OP350. Really hope it helps.

Consumers Report has called this the other way. They rate the RX350 more quiet than the RX450h due to a droning sound related to the hybrid system. Please, let's be careful here.

I’m speaking from my own experience test driving. The 350 was a big fat NO for us. You’re results may vary.

Well, OK. You prefer one drone over another.

I have driven both, too, and Consumers Union and I have had a different experience. Folks may have noticed that those most of us who are happy with their 350's long, long ago ceased making "My 350 is just fine" posts, because at this point in this very long string they do not contribute anything new that is material to a solution for those who may have the problem. Repeated "My 450h is just fine" posts fall into the same category. Even more so.

Go in peace.

Is this a TSB, warranty, or goodwill work?

This action began when I wrote a respectful email to Lexus stating that the TSB did not fix the exhaust noise problem. I was assigned a case number, and was called by a Lexus customer service rep the next day. I was told the dealer would call and arrange to take my car back in “to see what they could do.” I didn’t expect much.

The Dealership is 1-1/2 hours away. I picked up a loner (2017 RX with a droning problem - just my luck), and the next day the service advisor called and said they were waiting for a call from the Lexus engineer. Nothing was done that first day. The next day, the advisor called and said they had heard from the engineer, and wanted to try a new rear engine mount, which is an “updated part.”

The part did not come in until late yesterday afternoon, so the Advisor said he would call me when it is ready today.

To answer the question, I don’t believe it is a TSB. It will definitely be covered under the warranty, but I really believe the effort is all about good will.

I am hopeful. I purchased this certified 2016 RX in May. I will let you know if the new isolater mount helps.
