You can be a tight-**** like me and buy from ebay a roll of PPF; think it was 8" or 10" wide 6 foot long $5.00. I just covered the very front painted services, had to do it again 18 months later as it started looking dirty around the edges but when it's first done you wouldn't know it's there. For an extreme cheap price it works well.
Anyone have experience with getting their cars wrapped in PPF/wrap/clear bra or coating (ceramic)? How much did you pay for those services?
I have Eminent White Pearl and I'm paranoid of the yellowing. The place I called said he use xpel and will provide warranty for life of the car. Quoted $999 for partial hood, $1999 for full hood.
Ceramic coating quoted me Gtechniq $999 (3 years), $1499 (6 years), $1999 (9 years). Seems a little expensive?
Please share the brand and your experience as well.
Thank you

Reason: Incomplete
for me, secret to success is to have all edges turned in under the sheet metal so the edges are not exposed (where possible, ie, hood).
Only a great installer can do this.
Also, need to use product like Turtle ICE liquid wax monthly. After 4 years, no issues, except one/eighth inch tiny tear where a rock obviously hit. (and protected paint).
Hello, do you mind sharing how much it cost for the wrap, assuming you're from California and they have lower prices there due to competition? Was it a full wrap? (Full hood)
I had first 20 inches of hood, leading edges of fenders, complete front bumper, grille, and front lower faring. Attached are rough pics of the coverage areas from Xpel. Cost was $900. No brainer for me here in Florida with Love bugs and constant road construction.
I had this product installed on my 2014 GX460, and when I showed and eventually sold the truck privately, everyone kept saying they couldn't believe there wasn't any bug or rock damage.

i have a full front..... full hood, fenders, bumpers , headlights, mirrors, pano sunroof flip up part, on mine probably more.
i had the 3m pro installed, with the additional paint guarantee and warranty deal through 3m.
front doors windows tinted as well.
partial front wasn't an option in my mind due to the line.
I recently purchased a used 2017 RX350 and have ordered the center console insert thing. I am wondering about PPF for the door handles and maybe the headlights. Do you guys just install these yourself? Wondering if someone can post a link to what they installed. Im pretty handy but wondering if this is an easy DIY.
Thanks
installed full frontal with Suntek Ultra. I have the eminent white pearl color, looks great and the ppf is actually hydrophobic, water beads up and flies off.
Just picked up my new (to me) 2018 RX350 last week and after reading about some of your experiences, I decided to take the plunge and get the Expel Ultimate Plus PPF for her.
My previous car (2010 RX) had a partial hood and mirrors but I never really liked the look of the line on the hood. For this car I went for the full hood, front bumper, headlights, mirrors, partial front fenders, 4 door edges and a little piece over the front camera. It took the installer a full day and although I'm a semi-professional do-it-your-selfer, I wouldn't have attempted this install. After some negotiation, my grand total was $1,300 CAD but in my mind, it's a good investment considering the price of the car.
I can't say enough good things about this shop in Hamilton, Ontario but my experience was excellent and the finished product was flawless.
Thanks to all for your input!
I had a rock hit my PPF protected left front facia recently, and the PPF was cut and looked worse than a rock chip to the paint. The only fix, per my PPF installer, was to remove and replace the ppf. I said no. I’m experienced with rock chip repair (using Langka), so I removed the ppf and repaired the chip; chip disappeared. Done with PPF on paint. A ppf film on the windshield that would not distort the field of vision will be my only ppf mod from now on.
Paint Protection Film By 3M - Hood, Mirrors And Door. Part #PT90748190Cups
Ordered a new 2020 450H and thinking of ordering the
"Paint Protection Film By 3M - Hood, Mirrors And Door Cups" (part # PT90748190) has anyone had this installed ? Did you see a line on the hood ? It only will cover 1/3 of the hood. Let me know if is worth it.
I have that on my 2017 and so glad I do. No hood damage whatsoever. You can see the line if you look for it but it is barely noticeable. Doesn’t bother me.
By by the way studies show the main reason for front end rock chips is due to generally following vehicles too closely. Back off and you will save your RX.
