Audi might even be a better choice since reliability is better and the drive train and engines are outstanding. I went from Lexus to Audi and can't believe the quality, the technology, and fun factor driving. Great economy, well beyond EPA that must be based on the performance mode. My wallet is lighter but we drove the 2016 & again the 2017 RX's and decided to look at the other brands. Mercedes win for comfort and BMW is nice but as was said the Beamers are high maintainence. In this case I think you get what you pay for....Lexus has abandoned their moto "In Pursuit of Perfection" for good reason!

I've owned my 2017 RX Fsport now for five days and definitely notice the hesitation problem. It's only got under 300 km on it do I'm trying to break it in and not make intense acceleration so it even more noticeable . It almost behaves like a CVT that I had on the Subaru which I sold due to CVT. I'll be monitoring this Thread to see if there's a fix for this and am very interested to see what happens with the fellow from Ontario. Seems like I have identical problem.
Other than this issue, there's really nothing else I can complain about. As far as BMW X5, I have 2015 which my wife drives and although it's a nice SUV, the amount of time it's been in the shop fir various reasons is unreal. The hatch door makes constant noise which the dealer hasn't found any remedy for and constant software issues which keeps the vehicle in the shop for weeks on end. Come to think of it I think my wife has driven more dealer loaners than her own car this year. Our other fun vehicle, the jaguar F Type is a year old with 20000k on it and absolutely zero problems so far.

Did i mrntion i really like the lexus ride?

cheers

Small update on my resolution/isolation of the hesitation. Two weeks ago I contacted Lexus Corporate to discuss the on-going problem. As I escalated my initial problem to the Director of Lexus Canada, every time I call now, I get problems passed along to the executive team. Last week I called to see where we stood in isolating the issue. The call center could not/would not comment as the case is being handled by Senior management. The person working with their team was on vacation and is scheduled to arrange the car to be brought in this week.

Hopefully I will have more information this week. Whether they resolve this remains to be seen, but at least it has the attention of their executive team and the engineering department. I remain in contact with the Director of Lexus Canada.

We have the exact same problems. 100% can relate.

There is no way any engineer would design as mine is, or any vehicle I have ever driven, and there are hundreds, behaves like this one. I am generally slow on the accelerator and the car hesitates, jumps, changing gears 3 to four times in 100 feet. Running in eco does make the car more smooth, running in sport + does too. But both have their issues...so to speak. My issue is poking along in the neighborhood, making turns, and then trying to accelerate smoothly...not happening. Almost all issues are when you are going below 40KPH.

I'm starting to think it's more of a throttle positioning thing than the tranny. As Lexus has no idea why my car is doing it, anything is up for grabs.

For example, coming home this morning, I come to a four way stop, slow down to maybe one KPH...no one around, make my left turn, apply the gas car starts to go, then suddenly takes off, slows down and I get the dirty look from my wife.....What the heck was that? beats me honey, sorry.

Lexus is bringing my car in again when they have a "specialist" available...hopefully this week. They called me last Thursday to ask for the car for a few days. Back in the day when I would do inspections for an employer, even the oldest piece of junk didn't behave like this vehicle.

As for gas mileage with an 8 speed, my old 3rx (6 speed) got better mileage in the city and highway. Maybe only 1-2 mpg but never the less, the 8 speed does not get better mileage in my vehicle.

I had a '17 RX loaner for a day. I could feel it hesitates and can't make up it's mind where to shift for a moment or so then it takes off. Happens in ECO, normal modes.
In sports mode it behaves better. Same thing happens with Toyota vehicles.

Well Lexus Called today and this time it was a different story. Instead of doing some research, they told me to take it to the dealer again. So we need to start from scratch. I spoke to the Service Advisor and he said that's the process. I work there from time to time and everyone there knows my car has hesitation issues. The SA has been in it and the Sales manager.

Originally I contacted the Director of Lexus Canada when I wasn't getting anywhere. This got some work done and the Lexus USA TSB was installed. A few weeks later the Canadian version came out....Probably the same fix, although my contact at Lexus Canada did not know if it was or wasn't.

I sent another email to Jennifer Barron, Director Lexus Canada, to express my displeasure and brush off I received from their Management team. I'll keep this updated.....

Dropped the car off and went for a drive with Tech....Of course it didn't do the hesitation thing no matter how hard I tried.

While there we looked at all the downloads and yes the TSB from Lexus USA is the same as the Lexus Canada one. The tsb number doesn't really mean anything to the mechanics. They go by another number that comes up on the laptop. Everything was up to date, and it would tell them if something needed to be added or changed. Looks more like a part number. When I left he was going to check the shift points and run a history to see if anything jumped off the page at him.

He told me that unplugging the battery does not reset the transmission learning curve like it did years ago, at least not in the same manner. Maybe that's why I didn't notice any difference when I did it. There was a lot of info...and most it I didn't understand. Looks like you have to be a software whiz these days to be a mechanic....pretty impressive stuff.

More to come....

I only experienced the rough shift at one certain location, an uphill stop sign, when there were traffics, in stop-go condition.

I actually tried this morning, not to have the rough shift. So I was very gentle on gas, trying not to give RX the wrong idea that I wanted down-shift. But near the top, it still did it. Maybe I should show your tech this

Took the head Tech from my dealer on a test drive yesterday. He had his special laptop plugged into the RX while we drove and recorded the engine activity the entire time. I only experienced two short hesitations and told him each time I felt it so he could mark the content of his recording at that time. He is going to send this data to Lexus and will get back to me.

That's good trouble shooting...Hope they find something and also admit it....or at least explain logically why it did the two short hesitations....Keep us posted. There are a few (dozen) that would love to know.

Default RX350 Hesitation

Well its been 10 months and the hesitation/vibration is really irritating my wife. Getting ready to file a Lemon Law suit or a class action suit to force Lexus to fix this problem.
Next will be a social media barrage
If you want to join a class action suite send me an email at: lexusrxvibration@gmail.com
It seems there are a lot of us. Only if we band together will Lexus be forced to make this right
