I could see if you're going uphill and the transmission downshifts to maintain the set speed, but going to 4k when going downhill.....no way that's normal.

On the freeway twice, the transmission seems to have gotten stuck on a low gear and wouldnt change... the rpms got to around 4k and then jumped awkwardly down like it was skipping gears. I had this same thing happen on my old accord before the transmission blew...

For what its worth, its a 350 f sport with 2800 miles.
This is exactly the same behavior which I saw in my car followed by check engine lights. Lexus is replacing the transmission now.

I experienced several down-shift while on cruise control yesterday, except I did not pay attention to the RPM. I am OK with the down-shift, but I wish it could be a little smoother. I was on ECO mode.

Default Transmission RX 350 sport 3 2017

I am in Canada continuing my post of earlier. Lexus changed the transmission at 11000km. Problem occurred a few times and codes read d and g solenoids stuck plus particles in the transmission oil. After the repair it had a slight thump when in neutral but issues seem to be gone. The lexus dealership was amazing. They really felt bad for all the grief it caused and just told me they are going to buy back my car and replace it at no cost. I could not ask for anything more. It is a lovely vehicle and I think these issues are very rare. Service like this is what makes lexus lexus.

Sorry for the hassle, great service if they initiated a buyback or exchange, can't ask for anything more. Especially without a fight.

I have an appointment with Lexus dealership. I hope it works out well. I have sensitive feet so i am unable to drive it. Thankfully i have old 2004 sienna that drives great.
I am looking around of ios app or vibration meter that i can use to compare two vehicles and show it at dealership.

I have a 2016 450h and love it so I purchased a 2017 rx350 for my wife. It has 2k miles on it. At first we loved it. A few weeks after owning it I noticed the jerky shifting, low Rpms during acceleration which was uneven. It has jerks while in gear during acceleration in the higher gears. Lower gears 1-3 seem ok. I took it in and the dealer states this is a known issue with the vehicles and there is no fix from Lexus. The reset the transmission learning and sent us on our way. The vehicle is currently in the shop for the second time for the same problem which they failed to fix the first time. I was given a loaner rx350 and it drives worse than our vehicle! What a terrible transmission, how in the world would Lexus release a vehicle with this major issue. On top of that, by looking at these posts how could they not have a fix? Our issue happens on all modes Econ normal and sport. Wow I used to be such a fan of Lexus and their reliability history but this is embarrassing for them and what a shame. 40k for a new vehicle with a crap transmission. If they don't fix the vehicle, Lemon Law. I can't believe they can keep selling this vehicle with such a huge and obvious transmission flaw. It's too bad I did catch the issue during the test drive. Premium gas doesn't help. Sport mode helps slightly.

They DO have a fix. Look in the title of the thread! TSB info in post 159!

The TSB worked fine on mine!

Thank you, I forwarded the TSB to my Lexus dealer/service. Previously they told me that this TSB does not apply to my vehicle, however I'm asking them to doublecheck. I would think that if they have a solution that they would sell their vehicles with the update already included. This update was released in February and we purchased the vehicle in October. Thank you again for your suggestion, I hope it works!

They don't update if there is no complaint!

Mind also that you might need to keep the gaz pedal pushed a bit more than on your 450H. I got used to how much to push to get the power I want. If you don't push enough it anticipates the cruising speed lowe to what you want to reach and switch to higher gears too rapidly.

I had trouble to reach or maintain 45 MPH. By pushing to the right amount, you can easily do it. It takes a bit of time to get used to. Mine does not hesitate and try to switch to higher gears and back down jerkinly.as before the TSB, but still it is programmed to go for in the higher gear to bring the engine around 1000 RPM to save on gaz.

Update - The technician at dealership drove the vehicle. As per him this is normal and all lexus rx 350 with 8 speed drives similar. He said eventually i will get used to this. There is no TSB for 2017 model. They have only for 2016 model and it is not related to this issue. I have filed a ticket with Lexus corporate to ensure that they know about this issue with some 2017 models and provide a software update in future. Till then i will try filling the premium grade fuel to see if it helps.

don't waste your money on premium gas. what helped with my '17 RX was having the tech reset the ECU for the transmission. This resets it to factory settings. I believe the issue is the "learning" the RX does to adapt to your driving style. My RX was fine for the first 2 months then gradually got worse. After they reset the ECU, it was fine again for a while and has just recently gotten worse. For some reason, the computer sux at trying to adapt the transmission to driving style.

mine was a 2017(build sept 16), and the dealership applied the patch, and it did help a bit, tho didn’t entirely fix the issue. So it does apply to 2017s as well.

Does anybody in this group have experience with gas pedal pad to reduce vibrations? The gas pedal construction is very flimsy. It rests on a single rod in a very cheap plastic casing.

I found one at amazon.

That’s one thing that drives me nuts, the SPROING sound the gas pedal makes. Flimsy is an understatement! I’ve never had a car with a gas pedal that does that, and I’ve owned a lot of cars. Every 4RX I’ve driven does it too. Definitely bad design.
