Hesitation problem at various speeds (TSB info post #159)
#1321
I had the TSB done last week and it make a difference when driving. I did notice that when I reverse out of my driveway in the mornings (RX is kept in garage) and I stop (still in reverse) the revs jump from 500 to 1500. Its keeps jumping back and forth. It feels like stuttering. This only happens when I first the vehicle. I am on a hill if that matters. Has anyone noticed the same?

I wonder if it's related to the brand of gas, but haven't tested it enough yet with different brands / different octane ratings to know. I always use Top Tier gas.
I also notice that when the engine is cold, turning on the AC makes the RPM jump significantly, by over 500 rpm, and it feels like the car wants to lurch forward when the AC compressor comes on. Not sure if that is related to the issue of the RPM jumping up and down at idle.

Having a cold engine change revs while it's warming up is not unusual, in fact I thought all cars did that. I know mine have done that, never really think about it as it's so common, once warm they purr like a kitten.

I’ve seen it with my other cars but definitely not to this extent. I need to press on the brake pedal quite hard to prevent the car from physically lurching forward when I initially turn the AC on. This is not my first Lexus RX, and the lurching sensation on my other Lexus in the past was definitely not this strong.

Mine does not lurch. Just the rpm jumping up and down and only in reverse. It only happens when I back out of my driveway. It seems to be a combination of a long back up and being on a hill. I will try it on another hill to check.

Intermediate
Had the TSB done yesterday on my 16, and the transmission shifting is significantly better. Highly recommended.

Looking at the compelling RX350 again. I haven’t been able to track all the messages on this board, so I must ask. Has the hesitation / transmission issue been solved by Lexus for 2019 MY? Thanks in advance.

I have a 2019 and as others have reported. None of these issues are fixed. I've had my car at the dealer 5 times in the last 5 months and it came back slightly worse each time. My issues are not fixed.

Well, have you had any of the TSB s done? That seems to have really made things better. From what I am reading. But it is just happening now........i swear, they need to go back to the 6 speed transmission. So dumb......

It's not the transmission as such, it's purely the software mapping.
