Im one of those that agree with technodis in that none of the TSBs have worked. This leads me to some type of mechanical/hardware issue in addition to software. Lexus just cant get it right. I've lived with it but sad that my 20 year old 4 speed auto truck shifts better.

Yes, I have quite a few issues, in addition to the hesitation (e.g. excessive vibration and drone at 1500 RPM). I think the TSB can help some, but doesn't fix the problem completely; the problem is really mechanical. I notice that the degree of the hesitation depends on temperature. I've been playing around with the torque setting of the 2 bolts that connect the cat converter to the front exhaust. It's 32 foot pound by default and I've varied the torque by +-1 foot pound. This fixed the hesitation issue significantly, but it worsens the drone for me, so I revert it back to normal; not to mention I have to keep re-adjusting the torque based on temperature. Quite disappointing as I've owned Toyotas for 30+ years and every car has been perfect. The most recent one is the 2017 Highlander that shifted flawlessly and super quiet and smooth. I had to trade it in because the transmission broke only after 14K miles. I'll never go back to Toyota/Lexus again and will discourage all my friends from buying Lexus.

What the temperature that you are noticing the issues? The other RX is gone also?

Re: the 2017 Highlander transmission that broke. Wouldn't that have been covered under warranty?

It's an anecdote and a correlation; I'm sure there are other variables. The shifting gets noticeably better when the temp dips below 60 and the same when it's really hot, 95+.

It took the dealer 3 times to fix it, with oil leaking the 1st 2 times. The car was not the same after the fix so I traded it. I later, after the trade, found out that the new transmission was part of a recall. If I hadn't traded it, I might have been able to file for lemon law.

I'm surprised Consumer Reports doesn't really tell us things like those issues. Thanks for sharing.

What if I like hesitation and rough transmission shifts? /s

Also before anyone complains about premium, no, the hybrid does not require premium gas. Most hybrid owners are not using premium with almost negligible impact to MPG (see hybrid forum). If anything, RX350 users are having to use premium to prevent hesitation issues.

Also modern engines prevent knock.

I've never paid much attention to octane levels because up until this point all my cars have always used premium. Since I posted on this thread I was about to give up on the hesitation problem and then realized that regular here is 87 octane and plus is 89. Filled up with plus and the hesitation is gone. Simple fix for me.

Has anyone encountered this issue on the 2021s?

I have noticed some RX350's have acceleration lag (normal version not 450H). I absolutely hate acceleration lag. My rx 350 doesn't have lag even on ECO mode, but my friends has it. He has the same 2017 version, but I wonder if its a different assembly line.

Pedal Commander fixes that.
