I just got an email from NHTSA. 2017 RX 350 is now included in extended fuel pump recall. NHTSA recall ID is 20V682.

All North American market RX 350 & 450h models are manufactured in Cambridge, Ontario. I toured the factory, it’s state of the art. Your friend’s model has something wrong.

Good to know! I also have a 2017 RX f sport but am not still included for the fuel pump recall. Was hoping to get the recall as I read that there's a small chance it'll remedy the hesitation issue which I have and find quite annoying. I will keep any eye out as I'll be heading in for the door handle recall in the next month or so.

both used around 40K+ mileage. lag starts to kick in when rpms go above 3k especially when going on a freeway ramp. could be that he has a slow foot in the gas, and my foot is heavy and how the ecu programs it.

There's a good chance your's has had the TSB done, there should be a label under the hood showing that the TSB has been done.

I checked today and I did not see any tsb label under the hood. When I press the gas pedal, power is immediately transferred to wheels on my car. on my friends car, there was 1 second delay, followed by rpm increase noise, then power started to kick in. The rps jumped from 2K to 4K, and it wasn't smooth at all. I told him about it, and to ask the dealer to fix it cause he still had warranty left.

on another note, I found a new discovery which I didnt know in my RX. My gas was low, and then it gave me option of nearby gas stations in GPS. I thought it was kind of cool because I never saw that before.

I've never seen that either.
Yes, get your friend to have the car checked out. Tell him to go out with the tech and to show exactly what he means otherwise they'll come back and say, "We couldn't find anything wrong". You have to be forceful with some of the dealers. Maybe there's something else wrong with it but I'd suggest he tells the dealer to install the updated software for the transmission.
Yours could still have the TSB done, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't put the sticker on. Sometimes they put them in the drivers side door jam too, at the front near the dash.

Simple fix for me.
I've always used premium and never had any hesitation so I was wondering why so many had this problem.

Where can I find more info on Pedal Commander for the 2017 RX350?

ANY other guidance/tips would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Did you ever find out the model name of this device and did you end up installing it?

Thanks.

Save yourself $400 and just drive it in sport mode with premium gas (91 oct or higher)

HI There,
I actually do drive it in sport mode but I feel like it makes the gas pedal overly sensitive (it sometimes just takes off when I apply a just a little bit of pressure).

I was hoping the fixes above may help since premium gas and the TSB didn’t. Thanks.

https://pedalcommander.com/

However, the Pedal Commander has no effect on the transmission (the source of the "hesitation"). It interfaces with the throttle control and speeds up or slows down the throttle response as you depress the accelerator pedal.

The dealer most likely hasn't done the update correctly, most people on here say after the update the car drives better and is almost like being in Sports mode. I would suggest either they didn't do it OR they didn't disconnect power to the system to reboot it after the update which has happened to a few people. It's like some Microsoft updates, it gets loaded onto the car but needs a reboot to install.
