That's nutty. I cant imagine holding the thing for that long. My ES starts promptly on the third press after 2 seconds.

I guess I don’t really find it so much of a chore to just sit in the car and press the start button. Whew!

That's fine until the car has been sitting outside in 10 degree or 90 degree temps.

Well I decided to check my 2018 RX and sure enough the remote start works even though I never renewed. I do have an active subscription tied to my LC500 but I don't see how that would make any difference. Wish I could give the function to one of you guys who wants it. I never use it.

Keep the function and give one of us your LC😄

you definitely don't need to hold it that long, the command has been sent.
it just takes that long to flash the lights and start

Default 2021 Lexus RX350 - remote start questions

I am a new Lexus owner and I have two questions. First question as I have read a few different answers to this, when the app expires will the key fob remote start still work? Also has anyone found that the key fob start will work and sometimes not? Sometimes it will start then sometimes the lights flash mirrors will fold in and not start. Not sure why thoughts?

The fob's function is unrelated to whether you have the app or not. It signals directly to the car, so it's function is limited to a relatively small distance around the car. Similar to the wifi router in your house, or your automatic garage door opener, when you are near the limit of its range, the signal may or may not be detected by the car.

Just purchased my 2017 RX350 'luxury'

By chance I triple clicked the lock button (i'm admitedly an over clicker) and the car started...no holding down the button. just 3 clicks and it beeps itself a 4th time and just starts...Like magic!
10 min then auto shuts off...
Also when you open the door the car shuts off.
Dealer never informed me of this feature. I contacted them and after review they confirmed the previous owner added factory remote start when purchased. (crazy they didn't inform me on sale)

Weird, my 17 RX starts fine with the key fob.

I literally discovered the remote start this week with the key fob. '21 Lexus RX350 F Sport. Pretty handy but was never told by the dealer.

Hope this clears things up.
I have a 2017 rx 350 and I was having the same problem as you I couldn’t remote start my car and then my wife lost her key so I purchased tech steam to reprogram a key that I bought off of eBay and as I was messing around with the program I found the option for roll down windows and remote start all I had to do is turn the option on and now it works...
