Yeah you have to go into the main menu to mute the NAV at least in the 2017 RX that we have. Unlike my ES which has a audio mute right on the NAV screen.

Directions for Muting the media when the Nav prompts are speaking are in post #3
The previously awkward way to mute the Nav prompts by going through Setup and Voice
were improved greatly with the addition of the "speaker w/slash" on the left side of the Nav screen.
Note: The mute icon only shows when you have an actual Point B route engaged, no route...no mute
The ambient lights are controlled by the dash dimmer. I don't generally like a overly bright dash but I
jack it up when I have passengers that can see the lights.
