You cannot expect much with going aftermarket.

i just installed FITCAMX 4K cam and I honestly just love the factory look of it, it's like it's not even there. Took me 10 minutes to install.

Yes, I have one too and it has been perfect for the last few years. I notice on the new Rav hybrid there is an option for a factory installed camera, and it is about time that manufactures install cameras just like they finally now install navigation systems.

Installed the dash cam today. I must say, I had a really hard time pushing the cable through the grommet from the hatch area. Other than that everything else went smooth.

I don't know if you saw my install posts but I used a zip tie and then "lubed up" the cables with windex (someone suggested this online in a video) and it worked well.

For me getting under the dash to access the fuse box to do the taps was the hardest part.

Good luck and enjoy.

I did tried the ziptie trick with lube. Didn't work for me.

I had to use a long stick and it did the trick. It was still hard to insert the head of the cable through.

I've tried both sides and the left side was successful.

Question - when it is time to remove the adhesive from the camera from the rear tint, it will be disaster?

Should one with expensive tint on, what would be the best way to install the rear dash cam without harming the tint?

Sorry....I have no idea. No knowledge of tint specifics.

Can the people who installed the tint provide any recommendations? I assume that you did custom tinting.

I've got the Xpel Prime XR plus ceramic tints.

I am sure I am not the only one with ceramic tints with a dash cam.

The guys that installs the tints cant give straight answers.

There is a ~ 1/2" band of frit at the top of the hatch glass. Did the installer install tint over the frit? If not, I'd mount the camera on the frit. It might need a short extension to get in the right position; you'd have to play with this.

Even if the installer put the tint on the frit, cutting through the tint over the frit where you want it to adhere might work. Even if removal of the camera in the future removed the tint, you' have a natural break at the cut lines that would stop it from peeling from more of the window.

I am curious, though, why you wanted to tint the rear glass. It's quite dark from the factory.

The purpose of the ceramic tint is to reject heat.

You do make a good point about the frit, but it is not doable.

So. I went to my area Lexus dealer and asked for a quote for this camera installed. $800.
