Default Computer and tail lights

When the computer(s) slow the car or bring it to a stop, does it turn on the brake lights?

That is, when pre-collision or dynamic cruise slow or stop the car are the rear tail lights (brake lights) activated to reduce the chance of you getting rear ended?

Have'n driven a 450h for awhile, I use regenerative braking a lot and am wary of folks not watching and creeping up on my rear bumper. Just curious if the new, to me, computer systems use the brake lights. Testing with a friend following me is possible, just looking for an easy answer first.

Thanks,

I am betting that the brake lights come on if the vehicle has to apply it's brakes.

Brake lights that turn on when you brake, what an advancement in technology!

I watched closely, but never saw a mechanical foot come down from under the dashboard and press the pedal, hence my question.

Yes, the brake lights come on when braking is initiated by the car, as in the case with PCS, brake hold, or dynamic cruise.

Evidently more advanced than some humans.

David, I found some mention of the brake lights when using vehicle-to-vehicle control mode. It's on page 314, example 2. It says the stop lights will come on when a greater reduction in speed is required.

It's like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes, LOL! I couldn't find any mention of it elsewhere. But definitely use the brakes if needed, at least until you get used to it. Greater reduction of speed isn't necessarily defined. And dynamic cruise is only supposed to be a supplement and not a substitute for driver intervention.
