Do Yakima Railgrab Towers work on 4th Gen RX
I just purchased a 2016 RX (turned in my 2013) and I can already see that my current towers aren't going to work (they wrap around the rail that stands above the roof). It looks like the Railgrab towers might work. I called Yakima and they said it would be a couple of months before they probably have that confirmed for this car. Has anyone tried it, yet? Ski season will be over in a couple of months and I would like to get it done sooner than later.

I gave up, since I couldn't get any further information. I ordered the factory crossbars (pick them up today) and I will just buy a ski rack that clamps to that over at REI. I would have thought, being in the midst of ski season and this being an SUV, that a few people would have run into this issue by now. Oh well, a $550 fix for what should have been a $100 problem ($300 for crossbars and $250 for new rack).

I just have the standard moon roof. I picked up the factory crossbars and a Thule Snowpack 4 ski rack. I measured my skis and then from the back of the bindings to where the back hatch comes up and it looks like the front crossbar needs to be in the middle of the moonroof. Not ideal. I'll install it tomorrow and post some pictures.

The crossbar directions highly recommends that the front crossbar is in back of the moon roof. I'll just have to put my skis in tips forward. Here is a pic with the Thule rack. The ski rack goes on and off in less than 5 minutes, so I am not going to leave it on when not in use.

My RX didn't come with the roof bars and my dealer said it wasn't an easy option to add on.
Does anyone know if there is a solution that grabs the doorsills and doesn't involve any drilling? I don't even know what to search for, though I've seen it on other cars.
Thanks!

Will there be? Possibly, but looks like it could take a long time. NX has been out longer than the new RX and still has nothing available from Thule for non rails roof. But in general cars with no rails have options for attachment, I used to have a Prius without any rails and got the attachment.

Here is Thule's solution for no roof rails:

and Yakima's:

I don't really like them, as the pad abrades against the paint, but it doesn't sound like you have a choice. What are you putting up there? If it is bicycles, you might consider a hitch rack instead.
Edit: As indicated by SFocLA, there is a piece that goes from the attachment and hooks over the door sill. That needs to be of a certain size for a given vehicle. Those aren't out yet for the 2016 RX.

Ah thanks! "feet" and "towers" - that's what I need to search for.
I only need it in the winter for skis / snowboards. But this season is almost over. I might wait until next season to see if I can get some stuff used / on sale. I'll go to the local bike store to see what they can fit on my car for the towers / feet.
Thanks again!!
