New Windshield
Hi folks,
I have had my new RX for approximately 1 month. Was coming home the other day and a very large rock from an oncoming truck smashed into my passenger side windshield
My question... Has anyone else had the misfortune of having to have a windshield replaced on a 2016 RX? The reason I am asking is my car has been at the lexus dealership starting 4 weeks today waiting for the windshield. I am being told the windshield is on back order... Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issues, if it is taking 4 weeks for any of you too?
Thx

My 2016 windshield is still intact, but it seems like I will get a rock crack every year or two on all my previous cars. Usually I just do the repair, if I catch it soon enough. When I have had to replace a windshield (a few times) I didn't use the dealer, but rather a auto glass shop. Back when I had a Porsche Cayenne, it was a heated windshield and they wanted $500 to replace it (the shop would not repair a heated windshield). It may be too new of a model, but you could call around to some auto glass shops and see if anyone has it in stock.

Well, last week I was told the windshield would be in Monday this week....As of Wednesday night, no word from Lexus service. I have left three messages for them. It just seems ridiculous to me that it would take this long.

Yes, you would think they would have thought through the supply chain stuff.

If I called Lexus three times and they did not return my call I would call and talk to the General Manager.

Ugh... Every SUV I've owned since 1999 except one of the ML's I've had to have the windshield replaced. I know there is nothing we can do but I hate to have the factory seal on the windshield broken.

My wife just noticed there was a huge crack on the windshield. We don't remember anything hitting the windshield. We only got the car for a month. I wonder if it's a defect.

If there is no impact damage and just a crack then it could be deemed a defect. Let us know how it turns out.
