Default F Sport sound generator ... Noisier than luxury

Has anyone else test driven the 350 in both F Sport and Luxury ? The F Sport appears to me, to have significantly more induction noise and engine noise in general when accelerating hard due to a sound generator on the intake manifold . I must be getting old because I prefer the quieter Luxury model or maybe it's because I'm driving a LS which is very quiet . Has anyone else gone from LS to current RX ?

the F-sport I think a fellow UK member pointed out has a different intake system setup for added noise but nothing in terms of power LOL

It cannot be turned off. Lexus fits it on the IS350 (both regular and F Sport), the GS350 (both regular and F Sport) and as I recall, the F Sport version of the LS460.

Upon looking it seems as the active noise generator is for turbo 4 pot only . So the noise in the Fs are coming from the standard intake setup

Why are folks surprised that the f-sports model all sound sportier? (ie louder)

I think it would be more desirable if the engines sounded better because they had higher performance.

Instead we have this.

And typical Lexus.
Just look at their other f-sport models. (Save the actual F models with V8s)
No difference other than piped in sound.
Not sure why it is a surprise here.

I didn't see any posts where people seemed surprised by it - they just asked for clarification.

The F Sport package is basically an appearance and handling package on all of their cars, with no exception on the RX. On the RX F Sport, they add in the "sportier" engine sound with the package, like they used to do on the IS250 F Sport and currently on the LS F Sport.

Its definitely not on an LS 460 F sport as I've been driving one and it's silent as a tomb

No it has a sound generator in the air intake ... It's mechanical not electric ...
My point was not that it has one but has anyone else noticed how much louder it is than a luxury model

There are quite a few articles online talking about it:

Upping the performance ante is a Torsen limited slip differential, Brembo brakes, a re-engineered chassis and suspension plus with hollowed noise-reducing 19-inch BBS wheels. It even sounds the part with Lexus adding a little aural drama by installing an intake sound generator for a more performance style engine growl. Sadly, however, power is kept to the same as the base LS460 models.

The F SPORT model also adds a intake sound generator, which increases the engine volume significantly during mid-to-high level acceleration
