Well, I love the Siri assistant in the Nav. I find it awesome by asking the RX to "Play some Aerosmith please" and it grabs it through Apple Music on your iPhone. Obviously easy with making a phone call too. But what is the RXs capability with texts? Do the texts show on the Nav? I can't figure out how to do anything with texts. Thanks in advance.

I have never used Nav to send or answer a text using Siri...just the little "off hook" phone button on the steering wheel (to the left of the "hangup" button). I've circled it in the attached pic.
I've always got music playing from the iPhone in my pocket. So I touch the button long enough (about 3 seconds) for music to stop, release it, and I hear the TWO BEEPS. I say "Send a text" or "Send a message". Siri asks "Who would you like me to text?" I say a name I have stored in my contacts. Siri asks "What would you like to say?" I state the message (I've found that it needs to be kept short and with no pauses at all; if I pause Siri thinks I've ended the message). Then Siri repeats the text back to me and says "Ready to send?" I answer "Yes" and that's it...or you can say "No" or "Cancel".
If I receive an incoming text, I touch the "off hook" button again, hear the two beeps, and say "Read me the text". And Siri reads me the last text I received. After a pause Siri asks "Would you like to send a reply?" And then I can say yes and go thru the steps in the paragraph above, or no, and the music starts playing again.
I've also used it for playlists. Touching the "off hook" button, two beeps, say "Play Playlist ___(name)___" and Siri responds with "OK, playing the Playlist ___(name)___". If I want the playlist shuffled, I hit the "off hook" button, hear the two beeps, and just say "Shuffle" and Siri responds "Shuffling".
These steps allow me to keep my eye on the road ahead and never needing to glance at or interact with the nav screen. There are a lot more commands you can say using the same button (like "cooler", "warmer", "skip" etc) but the text and playlist commands are the ones I use frequently.
Hope this helps. Note: I may have left out or added a word or two in the texting details; trying to say all this from memory...and it's Saturday night and well, let's just say refreshments have been consumed.

You can have texts to appear on the screen by:
Settings > Bluetooth on > press blue i > switch on Show Notifications.
You can't reply through the screen, so you'll have to use the Siri instructions listed above.

I did an update on my system last night and it doesn't follow the same steps as what you have on there. May just have to do the FaceTime with the specialist on this one.
