My guess is it'll look like...an RX.

It looks like it will be an elongated version. It will start to look like a station wagon IMO. Not for me.

Those pictures have been posted before and they are actually the current 2 row RX, not an elongated RX L.
By definition, if one needs a 3 row vehicle being able to carry more people is of more value to them than having a vehicle that looks a certain way.

I like that Lexus is "thinking outside the box" with this concept...
It is needed for those that do NOT want a mini-van and Honda has the Pilot owning this segment.
Yes,we have real life experience with it and having those extra 2 spaces eliminates a family trip of 2 vehicles
We just traded our '01 RX 300 and were looking HARD at the Pilot and at 4 door Tacomas but a sweet deal dropped at our feet and we purchased another RX....
I guess this comes down to what you do with your vehicle and an AWD that is dependable ( the '01 had 241,000 miles ,gives great resale and does not break the bank for maintainence fits my needs.................
Just my 2 cents

Toyota has the Highlander for its three row vehicle to compete with the Pilot. It's Lexus that doesn't have a three row crossover to compete with the Acura MDX.

I love all the enthusiasm for a "3 row RX" I remain a skeptic until they release a photo of the design. I find it hard to believe that the current RX can be extended a few inches to add another row of real seats.
I envision some kind of part time flip seat that is suited for small children only. Similar to what Toyota did to the 2007 Highlander. I unfortunately had the distinction of owning one of those. The "3rd row" was a joke. I'm thinking this RXL is just a stop gap because of all the pressure supposedly coming from dealers and the real 3 Row will be the TX.
I hope I'm wrong and Lexus gets it right and all will be happy.

The current Highlander has a great third row...

Think Hyundai Santa Fe if you want to see an example of a vehicle with two wheelbases, the 3 row also has a good third row even though the two row is smaller.
This will NOT be the current RX with a third row, its an "L" version meaning it will have a longer wheelbase and more room for a third row.

Although i do like two row RX better. I think the three row would be perfect for me if i want to carry more cargo. Because i can fold both third row seats down permanantly and will have extra cargo space compared with the two row rx with the rear seats up.

I wonder exactly how long this will be. The 4RX is already as long as many three row vehicles, it's just very raked in the back.
I'm interested to see how significantly this will effect the GX and LX sales since they already have three rows. The LX especially is extremely low volume in the US already.

The GX has to worry a bit. Its an aging beast. Probably the oldest in the lineup. The repackging and refresh has helped alot in sales. However if the RXL gets a price bump then its gonna hit the GX right in the heart of the premium version (probably the most popular model). The only way the GX lives on is the RXl is price lower, or the GX goes higher with a significant refresh like the LX.
Capability is what pushs the GX out the door in sales. But thats it
