Without a hackback redesign and extended length the 3rd row will not be useful

Excellent advice! I did that in 2014 except my Toyota Sienna Limited is far from "mini" - it's huge. Friends and relatives scoffed until they rode in it. I always wanted a daily driver in which three adult couples could ride in comfort. It even has power reclining and stowing 3rd row seats like the 2016 RX got for its 2nd row. Here is a "slightly" altered photo of my wife watching one of her favorite movies (The Queen) and sipping a glass of pinot grigio the first time she saw it when I picked her up at the airport.

I am also a mini-van fan. I bought a 2015 Sienna XLE after renting one for a week long fishing trip. It was comfortable, quiet, smooth, and those sliding doors are awesome. I have no kids. I am single guy and it is mostly driven on the weekends. My road bikes fit upright in the back. I love it. Toyota added a lot of extra sound insulation in the 2015 model. It is extremely quiet and not van like. More like a big Camry. I am optimistic that mini-vans are going to regain some popularity in the next few years. Chrysler made the new Pacifica pretty good looking for a mini-van. if Toyota does the same for the Sienna, I think people will give it another look.

Minivans are working to overcome some of their limitations, like lack of awd. As that continues it will help their penetration, but three row SUVs are the biggest threat since they capitalize on the simple fact that minivans look and generally perform like lame pavement manatees. Unless you are towing, there is no functional advantage I can think of for a large SUV over an AWD minivan, yet no luxury maker has managed to make any vehicle that even resembles a minivan stick in the US. I did not consider a minivan because the performance and prospect of being stuck with it for 10-15 years was too soul crushing.

What is the big deal about a 3 row option for the RX folks? You can still get the two row version lol

Lexus has lost hundreds of thousands of sales not having a 3 row crossover option

^ Exactly what I was thinking, it's not as though Lexus is getting rid of the 2 row verizon. Well, not yet anyway. So I think it's great to have a 3 row version available.

I'm really interested in seeing what it's going to look like.

My only disappointment with it is that it's coming too late. I have too big of a gap between the lease end of my 2013 and the time when the three row version will be available.

We love our RX but really do want to have a third row.

My bet is that it will look like a Toyota Venza station wagon with a Lexus Logo.

Why would it look like that when the Venza is not a three row vehicle? By that logic the RX should look like a Venza
