2016 RX 350 Oil Leak

Had the rear main seal leak on my 2015 RX at delivery, hated the car from that point.
Frustrating as i assume the dealer saw it during PDI and passed the car, or they were negligent and didn't notice. Lexus Canada was the worst - unsympathetic and unapologetic. They offered a few free oil changes for me to go away - lol.
Dealer was generally good, but since the car was brand new and the work quite intensive, the technician left a fair number of interior scuffs and a scratches. Suggest you take a few pictures of your interior at drop off if still prestine
Anyway about 18 months later for a new 2017 RX. Loving the new 4th gen

My 2016 is in the shop for an oil leak right now. I do my oil changes at the dealer and during my 30K mile oil change, they noticed a small leak/seepage. Brought it back one month later for another inspection and that is where I am right now.
This is our 3rd RX in the family (the oldest one is 2005) and none had any oil leaks until this one. I relied on Lexus reliability when we purchased 2016 in January '16 - but now wished we would have waited a few years to work out all the kinks.

Oil Leak
I just bought a 2016 RX 350 less than a week ago with 19K miles. I see a small oil leak from above where the oil pan is. Attached are some pics of the leak. Is this the "Timing Cover leak" that everyone is talking about? Will this be covered under warranty. If not what would be a rough estimate of the cost.
Thanks

Looks like from the front cover as you suspect.
Shouldnt cost you anything since it should still be under warranty.
Powertrain -- 72 months or 70,000 miles
Have them look at it.

Thank you. I will take it next week. I just bought it from non-lexus dealer and didn't come with any previous service records. Hopefully previous owner did services from a Lexus dealer.

2016 RX350 Timing Chain Cover Oil Leak
Took my wife's 16' RX350 for an oil change and Lexus dealership found oil seeping through the timing chain cover. It's not a big leak yet, just oil seeping through. The car only has 38k miles. The work is covered under warranty along with another issue, warped brakes. Has anyone had this issue on their RX under 50k? I was shocked that it happened already at this amount of miles. It is a big repair job and one that involves dropping the motor. Is there anything I need to worry about in the future?

Yikes I didn't know this was an issue! I took my wife's 16' RX350 in for an oil change and they found oil seeping though the timing cover. It is now being repaired under warranty for it. For those who initially took it in for an oil change and they found this issue, did they still ended up charging you for the oil change? I'm guessing no lol since they have to drain the oil to fix this issue under warranty. Have you had any issues after the repair?

ill look for the thread.. but there was a limited number of 2016 vehicles with this issue.
it had to do with the sealant that was used.. or something contaminating the sealant. when i find the thread.. ill post it up
edit: - ahah yeah just realized you posted in it..

There might be some truth to that but in general this is a known Toyota/Lexus issue for years. You would have thought it’s eliminated by now.
