Scratches in clear coat paint
Purchased an RX350 new about 6 months ago and scratches are obvious in the clearcoat. Had the dealer review this car and they spent three days buffing the paint to see if that helps and the scratches are still there just as bad as before and now there are swirls from the buffing. The District Service Manager is reviewing the vehicle for a solution at this point, but is anyone else having problems with severe scratches visible in the sunlight on the 2016 model?

These are likely just micro scratches.

Your problem may have been caused by the dealership most likely or possibly even you if not using proper 2 bucket method hand washing technique. I never have any of our current or past cars washed at the dealership after service. I understand the convenience of this service for others but no thanks for me. Also no mechanical car washes but in the winter time, I have no choice but to occasionally use the touch free laser car washes. I have never owned a Lexus before and the RX will be our first, so maybe others can chime in on how Lexus clearcoat compares the Germans?

What color is your RX? Obsidian?
A good detailer should be able to get the scratches out, but it will cost some money to do right. Afterwards, you need to follow careful washing procedures or else they will just re-appear again. Quite frankly, if your RX is obsidian or another dark color, you are going to always see some micro-scratches. This is why people buy silver and white cars. LOL.

Ditto what roblim said. You must have a darker color.
Both the Lexus dealerships near me use a machine tunnel wash which is sure to scratch the car. If you want swirls, that's the best way to get them. Since the majority of luxury car owners lease their car, few people take the effort to properly wash the car.
Machine polish should remove scratches, not add them. You probably need to seek a reputable detailer if polishing made the situation worse.

Yeah, these are really only going to show up on the darker colors. Sounds like your dealer employs a bunch of morons. It's not that hard to fix the clear coat...with the proper tools.
Take it to a "professional" detailer and see what they say. They're likely to laugh. Not at you, but the crew at your dealership.
